    Hi all,

    I have just bought a 308 GTS QV in Nero with Crema interior. My car is a 1985 car, and from some research, apparently only 733 GTS QV's were made.

    Does anybody know how many were made in my particular colour combo?

    The standard production numbers thread here does not agree suggesting about 3000 308 GTS QV of which about 250 RHD as I recall - if there is a breakdown by color in the public domain I'd guess that would already be here too - you may find the Maranello Archive might be able to give you the UK color breakdown if not

    Is it Nero or possibly Nero Metallico?? What is the paint code (located on the inside of the rear hatch)? I have located s/n for a total of four 901/C Metallic black cars from 1985. Two of those have tan interiors and two have creme interiors.

    What is your chassis number?

    Answer is easy:
    a) is your car a 1985 "model year" or a car built in 1985 (calendar year)
    b) truth is that, actually, NO-ONE knows. But it must be classified as "fairly rare".

    Since there are no 86 model year 308's, if his car was built in 1985, it is a pretty safe bet that it's an 85 model.

    I think it is Nero, paint colour code attached.

    The chassis no is also attached.

    I think that because 1985 was the last year of QV's, it was built in '85.

    Would be great to know how many of my exact car came out of the factory. I'm sure someone out there knows the numbers.

    There were 748 QV GTB's made during 1982-85, so perhaps the 733 refers to the QV GTS built in 1985 only?

    That is correct.


    Ryan,

    Your car definitely has a different paint code than mine does. If it were metallic you would definitely see the difference. Someone once described the "normal" black as the darkest black you can imagine on a car. The metallic has a lot of the metal flakes so its easy to tell the difference.

    As another side note, with yours being 57907 our cars arent that far apart. Mine is 58027 with a May 85 build date. Its actually probably the closest chassis number to mine that I have found.

    The other thing that might be interesting would be to see the Assembly number. This can be found on the drivers side inside the engine bay stamped on the chassis. For comparison the passenger side has the vin stamped and the assembly number is almost directly across from that.

    Mine is 540....I am interested to see how that works with yours as a Euro car.

    I can't really comment on the flakes in the paint as I don't have the car yet. It's in the States and I'm just sorting the shipping to the UK. Can't wait to get her.

    They are quite close in serial no. indeed. Is yours a US spec car?

    Ah, you bought Hawkeye's car. Congrats! Hate to see a Euro cross back over the pond from the US but I certainly hope you enjoy the car!

    Hi all, ok Nero is straight black no metallic. Dr Tommy's, GrayTA's and my car are Nero Metallica paint code 901/C....I just love the dark color 308s!

    Ryan please post a pic of the car when you get it!
