Good Afternoon All, Long time lurker is compelled to post after reading this thread. I have been looking for a nice 400GT for a long time. The fact that these cars are value for money is a bonus for me, it is my favourite Ferrari, nay, car - at any price. Must be carb, manual, and brown or blue. I have been checking ebay, this forum, and several websites for at least 3 years. During this time, not one single car has been up for sale that meets my spec....until now.... Right under my nose! I live in Peterborough which is where the car Wayne aka Tassie purchased the car from a few weeks ago. I happened to stumble across the advert yesterday, called the seller this morning but alas it was sold!!!!! I coincidentally started reading some of the threads on this board and came across this one. I'm totally gutted that the exact spec I wanted was a 10 minute drive from my house, and is now being exported to Australia! At the advertised price it looked like a steal. The seller was a nice chap, I would have loved to meet him and talk to him to learn all about it. Ah well. You snooze you lose. Good luck to Tassie, hope you enjoy it.
Hi Uchiha, Sorry about swiping your car (only 3 keepers too) but if it is any consolation I agree with you that carb 400 GT's are one of the best value for money cars at this time. Apart from being the last manual carb V12's from Ferrari they are great cars to drive.
It really isn't a consolation. If for whatever reason you decide against exporting it, or you ever sell it, I'd appreciate it if you would get in touch. I think it's the least you can do

Hi Alastair, take a look at the thread I just started http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=395136
Just saw that long thread about the GT's production numbers BUT but could not find an explanation of the differences, thanks, Doc

HI just a reply to how many 400 gt manuals are on the roads of england ,mine is a 1977 blue manual, showing 57,000 miles in an unrestored condition !! running very well on all 12 ,did start out as Maranellos demo car !!
Any advice? Auto or Manwell? Best years? Carb or Fuel Injection? Just love the look of them. Could I drive it everyday once its sorted? I drive a 1971 365 2+2 three times a week to work, and I'm selling my 2009 QP 4.7.. I appreciate the help.
I'll give you my take. I owned my GT4 2+2 prior to my next(additional) purchase,330GT 2+2. When looking for my next car,I sampled what you own,not the best example I may add(classic Ferrari for sale in Aussie are a little thin on the ground),and found it very samey as the 365,so I discounted it and went looking for something more classic/vintage(being used to older cars help me in good stead). The 2 are like chalk and cheese, yet both hugely rewarding. I wasn't to particular in type(again the number available helped/hindered),all I knew was I wanted an Enzo era car,you are doing the flip-side of my deal. 1st thing is to take a 365/400 for a drive and compare to what you have. Good luck.
