wow, do you know which month 79908 were build, thought that to be a 328 !

    I know 79955 is a late 1988 - 328 GTS

    regards
    Johnny

I have a book entitled Original Ferrari V-8 which I purchased back in 1997 (which coincidentally is the same year of the car I eventually purchased) and the book states that the number of 348's is 1146 as well, I assume that this published number is likely correct as it agrees with the number you have as well.

    Johnny,

79955 is not a late 1988 328 GTS in my book, but should be a very early January 1989 (328 GTS).
The first 328 I have so far with a confirmed date of build in January 1989 is 79875.
My guess would be January 1989 also for 79908, although it is a 348, a car that I don't know very well, and therefore I leave it to my friend David, as it may have left the factory later or earlier, as the first car of a serie.

Hi Bruno, its strange to me, January 1989, did 348 production start so early ?

Not saying impossible but the last 328's were build Sept maby Oct 1989 for last touches.

Could be that the actual build dates and stamp dates differ somewhat, would do you think?

I own 97236. The list shows it as the only Sera Blu/Grey, currently at 47K. Hope this is correct. What does the red ? mean at the end of the entry ?

    Thanks,

79908 is a pre-production car; the tooling for the 348 production was in place in march 1989. Then, 348s and the last 328s were built together from April 1989 onwards, up to September. Considering that the factory was almost closed in August, as usual in these days.
The last 328s were built at the beginning of September 1989.

a-ha pre-production car, that makes sense.

    thanks !

how do you know it was in the beginning of Sept.1989 and when the ' built ended' how long does it take to complete one in those days, including final touches, QC etc, and we don't know when exactly the last 328's were rolled out of the factory.

I'm not sure if anyone is still keeping an updated data base but I own:

96810 94 Yellow Tan US built march 93

This car had an interior fire and I am now doing a complete restoration. Absolutely every nut bolt and screw has been removed and every piece going back on is new or reconditioned. It will be as new (actually better) when I'm done... 20 years from now. :)
It will also be yellow / black as peanut butter color interior is just not my thing.

    Hi all,

I'm looking for a late production ('93) TS or GTS in Black over tan/creme. Does anyone know if the GTS were ever brought into the states? I'm hearing that out of the 200 something made that only 15 were black? That said, I have not been able to find out if any were brought into the US. I would be interested in a euro car either TS or GTS but would prefer if the TS was a U.S. spec. No RHD please.

Unfortunately the 348 GTS and GTB were never officially imported into the USA by Ferrari.
I did find and drive a French, grey market import 348GTS in Arizona at the end of 2012 but bought a US spec 1995 348 Spider instead.

The actual number of GTS/GTB built were:

    348GTB - 222
    348GTS - 218

As a conciliation the US received the Series Speciale prior to the Launch of the GTB/GTS producing a total of 115 units.

I'm sort of kicking myself now for not closing the deal on the GTS as well as my Spider as the GTS is a true unicorn State side.

    C'est La Vie!!

Ahh, my suspicions have been confirmed. Thank you! I guess i'm looking for the next best thing, a '93 TS. I'm not keen on the TSS Rear. Love the grills over the lights on the 89-93 but I am just looking for a later production car. I'd certainly import a black/tan or creme GTS though.

Note that at that time Charles Pozzi was the official importer for France (there was no Ferrari France organization), so all Ferrari sold in France had this sticker (they could be sold by another dealer).

    edit: Factory RED/TAN resprayed back

This was my 1st Fcar. After a respray and service she was sold to me, then full major by me and some upgrades. Sadly she was lost to a distracted kid texting. Crossed center line and hit me. Put on Copart for parts afaik. The factory paint respray was very good and got lots of compliments. Had front clear bra and lip damage repaired just beforehand too. Previous lip fixes were sub par. Our local Ferrari affiliated collision center did a proper repair on the fiberglass. I remounted the bumper twice to be sure the shims were correct. Glad I did. ;) Car appreciated $14,000 with major and my care. Foolish kid "bought me an upgrade." OZ Wheels survived and now on my 360 ;)

Not a Giallo but this is a good list.
