    Hello everyone.

I recently purchased and had installed the Ferrari OEM charger for my F430. I believe it is the equivalent of a CTEK 800. The unit did not come with instructions (I anticipate getting them from the dealer shortly).

I have recently put my car in storage and disconnected the main battery. I was going to connect the charger when I saw a warning on the side that said "do not overcharge the battery". I chose to leave it disconnected for the time being.

So how long should you leave the charger on for? I am planning on leaving it on overnight approximately every 90 days and then the night before the first drive. Is it safe to leave on all winter? I am hesitant to do this as I do not want to risk a fire, based on what I saw when I searched a previous thread.

    Thank you.

What do you mean you recently purchased and had installed the OEM charger. Didn't your car come with the connector pre-installed? On my F430 (and every other F430 I know of) there's a little connector on the passenger side under the dash... right about where a passenger's right knee would be. You have to duck down and look under the dash to see it... it's not visible as you sit in the seat.

For me, the OEM tender came in a case inside the car-cover bag.

To your original question... when I know I'm not going to drive the car for a few weeks, I'll connect the tender and just leave it. The lights cycle on and off as needed and once I got a tender that actually worked (first one was defective), all is well.

My 360 had a pigtail for a tender connected to the battery. I bought a CTEK tender, and just replaced the original pigtail on the battery. Is it safe to leave the car on tender w/o switching off the main battery switch in the front trunk?

I'm researching what to do with my battery during winter as well. From what I've read you can just leave the battery tender on all the time? I'm looking at getting the 12v battery tender junior.
    http://batterytender.com/battery-tender-junior-12v-at-0-75a.html

But I have no idea how to hook it up, like dwe8922 said is there some switch I need to flip in the trunk?? Should I use the Fused Ring Terminal Cable Assembly or the Fused Alligator Clip Cable Assembly? And where do I hook these up to the battery in a F430? I don't even know where the battery is LOL :)

    Thanks!

I do the same. Does your tender go from green and then back to orange or does it stay green? Thanks. :)

there is a master on/off switch in the trunk of 360/430s .turn it off. the battery is behind the footplate on the passenger side. take the plate off and connect the o-ring ends to the corresponding battery pole. then turn the switch back on and plug the battery tender in.
i leave mine on all my vehicles all the time unless i am driving it everyday. the tender will only maintain the battery it wont overcharge it. takes about 5-10 min to connect, tops.

    good luck

They tend to go back and forth as the battery gets topped off periodically. Lessens the chance of over-charging. This according to my service tech.

Awesome thanks for the help f355! Probably a dumb question but if the battery is behind the footplate will I have to keep the car door open all the time?

This is for agentbb007.Lower the right side window about 2 inches and run the cord thru the opening then close the door. This way you wont damage the wire on the charger.

I think the directions are vague a best. I think they are telling YOU not to overcharge the battery prior to using the tender.

the tender (and I know exactly which one you speak of) is intended to do just that. Keep the battery at 12V.

I have had calls telling me the battery was dead and when they hooked up the tender it didn't help.

Tender can be left on for 365 days....but I don't think the little ck800 could handle it :)

also, i bought an extension cord from the battery tender website because the cord from the unit is not long enough to go thru the window and connect to the battery cord without putting the tender in the car itself. and i didnt want to put the tender in the car for safety reasons. they sell a 12 foot extension .

Mine was always cycling between orange and green, but this week seems to be on orange whenever I check.
    Any thoughts?

At least you know it is not 'Green' with envy.

They tend to cycle back and forth because the 355 thru 430 were known for using a lot of electricity for security system and other bits in the car when it sits. If you do not see it cycling on and off, you may want to check your charge with a volt meter or try a second battery tender and see if it cycles or not. Bottom line it should cycle unless you have a short somewhere in the system that is continually draining the battery at a rate greater than the tender can replenish.

BTW, I use the Ferrari factory battery tender that came with the F430 and connects via a 3 prong lug in the front boot. I did not know there was a connection inside the car.....good to know.
