The Gallardo could never reach 190 with the lights on the roof. I saw once a cop movie where a lambo outran an helicopter (from where the movie was made), and the cop was yellin' i'm losing it, i'm losing it. The -desert- road was dead straight. Was fun to watch. For the Enzo stuff, they can anyway say they know it's you, i mean the odds aren't that big that there is another yellow enzo. So they will fine you, and you'll have to show that there is another guy round there with a similar car. It happened in Japan years ago, a guy made a movie where he was driving with his then new F40 to the limit on the streets. Problem was there were like 2 F40s round there, and the second owner showed he couldn't have made the movie (was abroad for a long time or whatever) and they got the guy.

Where I grew up there were no choppers. Got away plenty of times, but got caught a few as well. Key is have to be in fairly rural area, or be able to get out of sight going in completely different direction within 30 secs of the cop seeing you. On a funny note, my dad and I ran from cops in his Vette Z06. Was in unfamiliar area but still blew the cops doors off. Got away, kinda lost so pulled into a secluded area for about 4 minutes... till the cop bactracked and found us..
Yeah, that's really funny! Reckless, stupid, irresponsible.....and funny! If it's even true that is........
The standard run of the mill CHP cruser tops out at 157. There always seems to be one of those types hanging arount the airport and when he saw the TR asked me how fast I had driven it. Exactly 70mph, but it will do 150 easily. He replied that if we both started out at 55 side by side that I would never catch him. Absolutly correct. I dont wanna.
Yes.....Radio, helicopter, ramming, pit maneuver, spike strips all depends on how much damage you want to do to your fast Ferrari. Remember the faster you go thats just that much more damage that will occur.
I don't think they would attempt any maneuver at those speeds. I think they would wait til you ran out of gas.
It's mostly Hollyweird that circulates the myths about cops. Most cops are neither race drivers nor gun nuts. (Except for the ones around FChat, of course. )
I don't know but I remember that Corvette police chase through the desert that hit an 18-wheeler a few years back. He was going nearly top speed and although there was a chopper watching from atop the police were probably about 3 seconds behind. I think the only vehicle that could possibly outrun a cop would be a bike like a Ducati or something.
Driving my academy cars was cool....A lot of the sops in the course with me had the Vics and could reach around 152mph. San Antonio PD will soon have(if it hasn't already received) its third helicopter. There is usually one always in the air if not on immediate standby. Thursdays and Fridays you'll always see them hovering around the 410/San Pedro and I-10/Wurzbach areas. As for outrunning the choppers, they can always go higher to keep sight of you and not to mention the thermal cameras and Day Light spotlights....I'd love to take a ride in one of those. http://www.sanantonio.gov/sapd/copters.asp#eagleawards
It actually depends on what town its in bcus in Pocono PA for instance cars are governed at 120 mph bcus the town bought cheap tires that are only rated for 120 mph
Assuming this is a crown vic, it hits 130 if it doesn't have any light-bars or other crap that increases drag. A TR is a hell of a lot faster than a crown vic. 421bhp/3650lb for the 512TR to the crown vic's (I think in the "police interceptor" package with the better intake) 250bhp/4057lb.
I remember seeing that crash on TV. F*ck he was moving before he hit that truck. And you are correct about the bikes. I reckon any road bike,600cc and up can smoke just about anything on the road,so the bikers would eat cop cars for breakfast. I have a mate here who has a highly modded Suzuki GSXR600. He told me last week that he did a flat 9sec quarter mile run, with wheelie bars. And he took it out for a high speed run on the open roads just outside of town, and he got scared at 290 kmh,so he backed off. But easily do over 300 kmh he said. On your beautiful freeways over in the US,he would be hard to catch..............if he doenst get killed by other motorists pulling out in front of him first Or....................that bloody police radio
Actually Mike, the bottom pic looks like a Ford XR8 to me. Ford 5.4L(mustang engine),260kw V8(stock.) I can tell by the "hump" on the bonnet. I know my humps And the Ford 4.0L is a straight six cyl turbo engine, not a V6 engine . They are good for 240kw(stock).
I don't know how fast Oregon State Patrol cars go, but I know that the California Highway Patrol cars that are Crown Vics will not break 130MPH. I know this because I use to hang with a lot of CHP cops. We talked cars all the time. I've rode up the I-80 freeway as a passenger past Roseville at full speed with one of California's finest. Their cars have an altered suspension and some other goodies that I don't know about, but they will not break the 130 MPH barrier. The light bar has a lot to do with it. The white cameros that they were using for awhile would go just below 160 MPH. They were box stock SS models and the only extra equipment they had was police stuff. One night I was sitting with a police officer in a construction zone on I-80 just below Auburn. A STS Cadallic blew past us and the radar said 137 MPH. He was going down hill so the speed was easy to get. The cop calmly reached over and grabbed the radio mich and called Sac CHP and told them to look out. "Here he comes." I doubt the guy got caught. The problem with really hauling the mail and getting caught is that at some point the cop can inpound your car and hold it for 30 days. The storage facility will likely charge you about a hundred a day to hold your car. I know that three grand is chump change for a lot of ferrari owners, but I'd hate to pay that bill. Also your car will be picked over and no one will know anything about it when you finally bail your car out of jail. You lose all the way around the circuit. Bob Wassam
SCPD tested a 2000 B4U Camaro to 162 MPH.... The Camaro cop car is NOT a SS, or a Z28....it's a de-badged Z28 called a B4U.
remember that there is a difference between the regular police "interceptors" and the pursuit cars......
I have the eleven page 2001 Camaro Police Package(B4C) .PDF file of that car if anyone is interested. It has all the codes, options, specs. The car itself basicly has heavy duty everything. 2001 Camaro(B4C) LS1(V8) 5.7 Liters/350 CID 310HP@5200 340 lbs torque @4000 Compression 10.1:1 Brakes Front: 11.9"x1.27"/238.6 Rear: 12.0"x1.02"/169.0 Total Brake Swept Area 407.6 Sq in. Alternator Type: CS-130 Amps 105 Amps @Idle 46
Holy crap thats a nice car. Why dont they sell that ford in america? thats one that I would actually buy.
Cool cars alright buddy. Not sure why they dont import to the USA. Would be a big hit there as they are great cars for the money. Top pic-The silver Ford XR6 Turbo(straight 6 cyl,4.0L engine has factory 240kw(321hp) and the bottom pic,the blue Ford XR8 V8,5.4L Boss/mustang engine has factory 260kw(348hp). Besides the badging, the easiest way to tell the cars apart is that the XR8,has the hump/bulge in the bonnet. The hump is there to clear V8's plenum chamber from hitting the bonnet,as the engine sits high in the engine bay. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
