Anyone ever hear anything from him? Anytime his dad's name is brought up, Nico seems to be rather indifferent. Was it simply a case that his dad was not really ever in his life? Sort of sad........

considering his dad was an f1 driver it's no surprise IF he wasn't around much. Too busy slaying everything that walks haha.

Vague bells are ringing that they were a long way from close when he was growing up, but I don't know why.

Wasn't Keke his manager earlier in his career? I guess that could also put a "strain" on the relationship?

    Cheers,
    Ian

Yet, even if they didn´t like their fathers, they followed their steps. And of course, they must know that being "someone´s" son helped their careers.

I was going to comment in the 'Monaco' thread but thought best to leave sleeping dogs lie.
    Since it was brought up;
I think it is highly disrespectful of Nico to trivialize or ignore his fathers assistance in getting to where he is.
I can guaranty you he would be just another overconfident dude filled with swagger if not for the old man's help.

For God's sake a little announced appreciation is not too much to ask for.

Maybe he just doesn't want to be cast in his father's shadow forever.

From my personal knowledge as a family friend I know this is not the case, and any speculation to the contrary is very misplaced.

This statement is not only totally false, but idiotic and asinine.

    Thanks for the insight.

Nico just wants to be judged on his own merits, and not as a "son of Keke". He is very aware the help he got from his father along the way, and indeed said so(again)after winning Monaco.

Keke wanted to quit managing Nico as soon as Nico got to F1 (he had seen enough of bad examples of parent/child management disasters). It just took some time to figure out a good team to continue Keke´s work.

Notice, how Keke kept out of the spotlight after Nico´s Monaco win? It was Nico´s day, and Keke didn´t want to steal his thunder.

    P.s. Keke is God.

Personally, I think race dads are obnoxious. Button's dad with his half buttoned disco shirt and gold chains is creepy and Hamilton's dad seems like a puppet master..... Sorta like the Williams sisters old man in tennis. I dont know, I think the Keke route of backing out of the spotlight is pretty cool.

If my son won Monte Carlo, I think I would let him have it alone. Its his. I respect Keke.

    THANK YOU!

Can we please never show that leathery old bastard in his unbuttoned (lol) pink shirt again?

Guy is about 75 and dresses like a 1980s Miami nightclub promoter.

    I completely disagree.

Most dad's regardless of celebrity want their kids to carve their own path and not be compared.

    Agreed.
