Sorry but I just throw three cubes of ice in it. (But then again, I tend to spend the same money and get a nice single malt.)
How do you normally drink your scotch, blended or single malt? Experiment! 1. Neat first. 2. Splash of water second if the alcohol burns or taste too strong when neat. Actually pretty cool to watch the water as it works its way through the scotch. Visocity difference shows and causes friction that actually excites the scotch molecules ths leading to better nose and palatte. Just be careful you only add a small splash. Don't drwon the "pour" scotch. 3. If you prefer it cold, drop in ice. Great thing about having a whole bottle, you get to play with it. Report back what your experiments show you. BTW...nothing wrong with a blended scotch. Just like wine, sometimes they benefit from blending and you are able to achieve a sum that is better than its parts. ...and that's not to say any of the "parts" are bad to start. Its just a different method.
Haha great thread...Saturday is my night. I go to work in a few hrs and I drink JWB the entire time I'm there - free. I guess, neat, right? No ice, not chilled, no chaser. Been doing that for years. I get to get tanked for free on JWB, see lots of bouncing titties and paid to play. I'm glad to see others drink it like I do. I'll drink to that! RMX
Generally, neat. Rarely, if I'm not feeling like the full brunt of it, with a few drops of water. Let me repeat, a few drops. NOT half a glass of water...
I was talking to the owner of my local liquor store the other day -- he was complaining about his father in law being at his house because apparently he drinks JWB with coffee grounds(!) in it. Drives the guy mad because the FiL expects him to supply it seeing as how he owns a liquor store. I've heard of Sambucca(sp?) with coffee beans, but that was a new one on me.
Neat ,no ice. Mind you, you should drink it as you would most enjoy. Nice drop. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I like just one ice cube, made by freezing just barely under 32F so that all the air bubbles gas out and leave a perfectly clear cube.
This is the definitive answer in the correct order according to my contact at The Macallan. Just hung out with him last week. However, as he very clearly said, "However one like's it is the way they should drink it." So, just ENJOY. BTW, The Macallan 55 is offered at USD $80K. If anyone is interested, let me know, and I'll make an introduction. CW
I don't.... I like "Girlie Drinks", like Amareto on Ice... JW is MUCH too MUCH for me...don't like the taste, and don't want to 'acquire' it.... Mike in Kuwait
I've only ever drunk Black and Green label (hey im a student!), but i usually drink all scotch simply, straight on the rocks. Tastes perfect in my opinion.
