I'm getting closer and closer to finally fulfilling a childhood dream of buying a Ferrari. I'm hoping to buy a 458 in the next couple of weeks. I can't even sleep at night just thinking about it.

But I'm really stressing out over what color. I keep going back and forth in my head between red and yellow. But then i just saw a white one and thought that was awesome too! It's driving me crazy....there has to be a color that i prefer but i can't single it out.

So how did you guys pick a color?

I had the same problem. Red or yellow. Red or yellow. Red or yellow. Red or yellow. Red or yellow. Red or yellow. I was driving my wife crazy. Then after weeks of indecision she says "get both". Voila. Problem solved.

Red, period. Particularly because it's your first one. Be classic. You can't go wrong.

It's tough. I went back and forth between red, yellow, white and black. Chose nero daytona and found it was more subtle than I wanted. My Speciale will be a red metallic (Rossa Fiorano). It helps to see the colors on 458's in person. Make several trips to the dealer and the service department to look at the 458's they have. You'll end up with the right color but that doesn't mean that your taste in colors won't change for your next Fcar.

I did just that: I picked one. And didn't look back.

The good news is that if my current one would get totaled or stolen, I would order an identical (color and specs) straight away.

In the end of the day, buying this car you'll be realizing a dream and creating a memory for life. And I think that memory is barely impacted the color. But by the memorable drives you take, the sound, the experience. But maybe it's just me.

Just to throw this in the mix. which red? There are many.
If you like most people do, want a red Ferrari, have a look at Rosso Fiorano and Rosso Fuoco. Taste is purely subjective, but I think those are easily the best red colours for a 458 Italia, if not just the best colours for that car, period. I like Yellow more than the classic Rosso Corsa. Not a fan of Rosso Scud and Rosso Dino. If you haven't already, have a look at the recently posted thread with the Rosso Fouco 458, it's a stunning car.

Just remember there are no 'rules'. My first Ferrari is going to be Grigio Scuro. Don't be afraid to make a personal statement. Make it special and make it your own.

Can't go wrong with any of the Red especially Rosso Corsa, a colour that has been traditionally around for a long time.

A 2nd choice would be Yellow.

Haha....I'm driving my girlfriend crazy with the exact same thing. But then I saw a white one and now that's in the mix too.

But like jaa1335 said, I think the safest thing to do is go classic red.

I didn't "pick" the color of any of my Ferraris in the sense of ordering them in a particular color. My first Ferrari, a 246 GT which I bought in 1976 from the original owner, who took delivery in 1974, is Blu Sera. In 2011, I bought a Tour de France blue F430 Spider. I like the color so much that I recently traded another Dino on a 2013 TdF 458 Spider. While I didn't "pick" any of these colors through an order, a kind of Ferrari notion of "natural selection" led me to my three blue metallic Ferraris. If Rosso Corsa is what you prefer, go for it! You can't go wrong with any Ferrari colors. They're all originals, in my opinion. Fred

How funny John. I seem to have come to this conclusion slowly. First Fcar blue 355, second one nero daytona 458 coupe then I finally saw the light and have a Rosso Fiorano Speciale due October. Better late than never. While I liked the previous colors, something seemed to be missing...I'm guessing for me it was that they weren't "red Fcars". :)

Red is "safe" but common, although ther are many "shades" of red. A homogeneous color, red, yellow, etc., often needs accents to stand out, i.e. usually something black like CF rear and wheels etc. Black hides the lines in my opinion. I owned a Silverstone/Cuio which I believe is the "classiest" (tuxedo events) color combination. Today, I own a black and white 458 which I came to as follows.

I live in California/Nevada but took a ride over to New York. Sat down in their showroom and "designed a car. I had the chance to see an example of every exterior and interior color, and decided either Red/Black or White/Black. I finally went to the internet and as luck would have it found a video of someone filming two cars on a freeway, one was Red/Black and the other White/Black. As I viewed the video it became clear to me that the White/Black was for me. Picture attached of the original car before modifications (black lug nuts, black shield, wrap along rocker panels, black lights etc. Best

See, there you go again....just when I think red is the right choice, you had to throw the white back into play. I love the white with black roof. But I'm generally quiet guy....I think a simple red might still be in my future.

Thanks for the replies guys....I can't wait!

If you go to Italy and ask people around town they will all say the same thing without hesitation - red. So for your first ferrari the answer is simple. It's the second ferrari where things get complicated. LOL

Most important criteria is getting what YOU want. Not what anyone else thinks, myself included ;)

These things are just way too expensive to not satisfy your own inclination.

I can't disagree with red being the classic color for you first Fcar. I always thought that would be the color for mine, but when I started my build I keep going back to a color (canna di fucile) I remembered and loved as a kid. Once I set with the color samples at the dealer I went with my gut and could not be happier. Spend time with the color samples and go with your passion. Remember it's for You!

I live in a small town and another guy had a red 458 already. I have a another black car, so something lighter like silver seemed cool.

A relevant phrase offered by very bright guy (not me) "Lose your mind and come to your senses" You know what turns you on, "if a man's grasp does not exceed his reach, then what is a heaven for?" You are not buying a hammer, or even a Porsche (with all due respect to the Teutonic practicallity and speed), but a Ferrari. Who can justify spending over $300,000 for a work of art that happens to be legal on the highways. If you are afraid of attention, you may want to consider a Volkswagen (lol). Seriously, not "another" red Ferrari. If they love them in Italy , God bless them, but unless you live in Italy, think again. Best

Not "another" red ferrari. How about a "tan" ferrari? LOL. Come on Robert :) Let your hair down. Go wild. Have fun :) a hundred years from now nobody is going to care anyway. I'm just being a rabble-rouser today. I don't mean to upset anybody :)

This forum is fun and informative. I have a good time here and learn a great deal. I enjoy the back and forth (most of the time) but have to wonder why anyone cares about anothers (my) opinion of color or style unless they plan to sell us/"me" their car? I know what I like and come here to find out what I may not know about "choices". It is like some of us are about to go on stage and ask others to give them their "lines". I am happy to offer an opinion, but there is a caveat, I could change my mind tomorrow (lol). Best
