I am wondering if somebody can tell me how I can 'test' if a California is one of the first version or the the California 30. Beside the horse power.... are there obvious differences to clearly identify a California 30 - in case of buying one? I assume there are minor differences.... So any help is appreciated.
The 30 has the grill and side vents in silver. Obviously you can mod an older one, so I would just look at the owner's manual to see if it is 2013.
Are you really sure?.... I saw a lot of - at least as California 30 named California - with the standard black grill and side vents....
Yeah sorry that is part of the HS package for 2013. "the California HS, was introduced for the 2013 model year. It can be recognized by a silver colored grille and ventilation blisters behind the front wheel wells."
Yes - I heard this with the HS package and the silver grille.... (looks great) But and obvious or minor thing to identify a Cali 30 w/o the HS package?
There are two, small details to look for that can alert you to a Calfornia 30... 1 - The chrome Prancing Horse logo on the central bridge has been deleted. 2 - The Prancing Horse logo that was stamped in the leather on the rear shelf has also been deleted. There's also a new 20" wheel design for 2013. Other than that I don't know how to tell them apart myself
Regarding the new 20 inch wheel design they also still make the old 20 inch wheel design. Regarding the silver grills that is true that they are part of the sport package but the sports package will come without it unless they are specified at no cost. . My new one should be here in about a month .. I ordered the new 20 inch diamond finished forged wheels they look pretty good in the picture they are a 5 spoke design similar but very different then the 458 wheels.
Thanks - I will look out for that. I have also heard that the audio streaming via Iphone Bluetooth is now possible with the Cali 30.... Can anybody confirm this? Is just a minor not obvious thing.
That's actually not that great. I like leaving my iPod touch in the car as the server for my music. The fidelity of that hard-wired system is superior to limited bandwidth BlueTooth streaming.
Streaming audio from your phone is cool and all but I agree with you..the fidelity isn't as good (not that those compressed files on your iPhone were great to begin with) but now you've got to carry a phone charger to maintain battery life.
Good question...they're not even available as an Extracampionario request as far as I know. My guess is it's a cost-cutting measure??? The chrome logo on the central bridge has also been deleted from FF production.
You can still plug in your iPod/iPhone. There's a USB connector in the front of the "Infotainment" unit. Another way to tell it's a "30" is to look at the navigation software, which now has a (pretty dodgy IMHO) 3D mode.
True, but then you have a cord sticking out of your dash, and you'd have to remove the iPod each time you park the car. Much tidier to stash it away in the glove box.
Another way to tell the difference: the VIN visible in the windscreen the 'older' Californias had: ZFFLJ65... as 2+2 version ZFFLH65... as 2+shelf option ZFFMJ65... as manual version the +-30 version have ZFF65TJ... or ZFF65TH.... in their VIN Best Jurgen
Jürgen - thx.this is best advise... This is obvious for all. Is it possible that you mean ZFFTJ65 instead ZFF65TJ Thx again
Indeed, ZFFTJ65..... is for Euro, ZFF65TJ..... is US version.Easily visible in the windscreen. Best Jurgen
Great advice on the VIN. In response to an earlier post, on my Cali 30 the chrome prancing horse is on my carbon fibre central bridge, so that's not an indicator as to model version. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I own a Cali 30 and can confirm I also have the prancing horse on the carbon fibre bridge. Also, my side vents are the same colour as the body (Grigio Silverstone). I have read magazine reviews that suggest the side air vents are a different colour on the Cali 30, however the spec on F cars these days is configured in depth by the customer, finer detail like prancing horses and air vent colours are ultimately decided by the customer. I did not spec my car, I bought it from the dealer as an ex demonstrator.
My carbon fibre central bridge also has a chrome prancing horse on my California '30', but perhaps that's part of the carbon fibre option? Also most of the discussions on this forum are from US buyers and their cars are specced differently to the cars in Australia and the UK. For example, in Australia it isn't possible to buy a California without parking sensors, or a rear camera, or cruise control, etc, whereas it seems that the standard US version doesn't have these (and other) options unless it is ordered with them.
You bring up a good point....I believe the chrome horse deletion is exclusive to the standard central bridge.
