She's in the process of getting new tires installed, ordered a fresh set of coils and air filters to see if I can get her to start a little easier in the cold.

I believe the gauge is KG/cm2. I think this is the same as Bar or very close.

Correct on both counts. My idle oil pressure is in the 4-5 Kg/Cm2 range and climbs quickly to 6 or above as the car gets underway.

These pressures are fairly high in my experience, not sure why that is needed unless it helps to make sure that oil is flowing strongly in all of the many nooks and crannies of a big engine.

As the guy who built my race car engines used to say: "Oil pressure is important but even more important is good flow of oil through the engine".

He would spend a lot of time removing anything in the oil passages that could impede oil flow.

    Hi,
I have the car tested in Fast Lane (previous post), a 412GT (ZFFYD24C000061431), here beside my 84 400iA. Now enjoying the clean air of Tasmania.

Hello Wayne, I don't think you do have the Fast Lane car because I do!

The car was/is metallic black with blue interior. Shaun Bealey was running Maranello concessionaires at the time and had several manual 412's one after the other.

I spoke to him about them last month and he said he changed them every 9 months to keep the mileage down before they found their first proper owner. My car is a late 1987 car and yours is 1986 so I would guess my car probably replaced yours as his company motor.

He also shifted his private registration plate (77 SPB) from car to car which I think is why you think its your car? He also moved his wooden steering wheel on from car to car too so I think both our cars have had that fitted at some stage!

The Fast Lane feature is from March 1988 so it was probably done late 87/early 88 and my car was registered in September 1987. He remembered ordering the car in black as he liked the look of the black 412 on their 1987 Earls Court Motor Show stand - they ordered all the cars for the stand in metallic black with grey interior. Coincidently I also have the 328 GTB from the show stand too.

He also told me a story about when he lent a 412 to Stirling Moss - Stirling's wife was pregnant at the time so he had left the car running outside the house to save her a walk, some thieves nicked it and crashed it somewhere in London!

Also check out the unusual (400?) mirrors on the feature car and the car as it is today... they are still there. although I prefer the smaller style ones on yours (and my 328 GTB).

Here's a link to full article uploaded by a previous poster...

Ive shown three pictures, one exterior shot from the magazine, one interior shot from the mag showing the blues seats and wooden wheel and one interior shot from the car as it is today.

    Thanks a lot.
I had a doubt it was yours. Because in the others pictures I could have seen, there wasn't the little license plate in the front ! Have you add it after ? How is it fixed ?
I have this question because I've seen many 400 in the USA with it. I think this is the original plate before importation, but it's quite curious because in France they have disappear. Except of the Italian market cars..

I managed to track down an OEM plate frame from Eurospares in the UK, the brackets are no longer available, but I had them fabricated. My car was originally registered in Italy so the mounting screws were still on it, the plate is original, but not original to my car, I have the matching larger plate for the rear, but the car is properly registered where I live and I'm only required to display the rear plate.

    David,
    Be damned, you are correct.
Just goes to show that you should never trust a salesman, even reputable ones.
The previous owner said the car was the subject of the article and told so by the agent in the UK selling it.
Car came with details of first registration (same as yours) then several owners including Sir Anthony Bamford.
Luckily I don't condider those things in valuing a car - it is what it is.
What are the chances of 2 RHD 412GT's with the same rego number and very similar colours (in poor quality mag photos). Mine has fawn interior.
    Enjoy your great car.
    Paul,
Green car is 50027 and I purchased from Jeff Hardwick.

I feel bad now, although having Mr Bamford on the records lends a certain gravitas...

However if we played it better this could have turned into a Jim Glikenhaus-type debate - we could have bickered for a while and doubled the value of the cars!!

Anyway we should take comfort in being members of a very exclusive club. I keep an eye out for other RHD manual 412's and so far I've only located five (of a production run of 24?).

One recently sold in the UK (for £50k!). another is currently for sale at Foskers in the UK, which leaves, me you and Michael Rensche in Australia.

Should we start a thread to find the rest?

    David

Well, I would rather my car be a 30 footer instead of my wife/gf.
