One of the last roads we will go on is about 10 miles with a posted speed of 45mph. And if we had the road closed... we MIGHT be able to average that!!!
Yo Doc... I sent you a PM earlier this week... not sure if you saw it or not Still okay if the "dude in the Taurus" comes by if I can? We need to bring anything if we do come? Thanks again, Shannon
Pics to follow but thanks to Jamie, Lance, Russ, Patrick, Bob and his lovely wife, and Shannon for making it a great day!!! Did anyone pick up the front end of my car I left on the Shull Mill Rd???
Oh gee thanks Jon... seems I'm always coming in last for some reason or another j/k I for one had a damn fabulous time today... and even though I don't own a Ferrari I was still made to feel like one of the group. You learn something new everyday it seems (as the saying goes) and that fact remained true today for me. Things I learned were... 1) Ferrari's are somewhat hard to get in/out of no matter what the model... but especially a 360 Modena with "different seats" 2) They sit low to the ground and even them are prone to "bottoming out" over rather large dips in the road (I told you to go left) 3) They handle exponentially well and stick to the turns like glue... and do it well enough to make a die hard cornering fan a bit queasy coming down 221 4) A 348 Spider will run well over XXX mph without the slightest hint of instability or body roll and pulls very well in the upper RPM band. I cannot confirm or deny what XXX speed was as I wasn't watching 5) Jon is one cool ass dude, has a superb pad... and all in all is "DASHIZNAT" Thanks again for getting us together Jon... it was an honor and pleasure meeting you and everyone else, and thank you also for letting me "tag along" in the Spider (I knew I forgot to tell you something when I was leaving). Thanks goes out to Russ as well for "poppin' my cherry" for being the first one ever to let me sit in the driver's seat of a real Ferrari Shannon
Had a blast yesterday. Thanks to John for hosting and everyone who turned up. I am scared to look under my car as I am sure a few non essential parts are hanging out in the road with parts of Johns front fender. Looking forward to doing it again and seeing all who are snowing at Kirshaw on the 28th. Russell
Got back to Raleigh about an hour or so ago - man, what a blast! I had a terrific time. John, you are a generous host, and a great friend. Thanks for letting me crash at 'Club Rogers', and thanks for putting this thing together - I hope we can do it again soon. To the rest that were there - it was a pleasure meeting and spending time with each and every one of you. Beautiful cars, and good people I'd like to hang out with again. Lateral G's rule! Whoohoo! Oh, and here's possibly the best pic of the trip I was able to snag with my cameraphone - yes, that's a Pontiac Fiero Formula mirror in that pic, with Russell's 360 (with Len along) being shown in it. I wish I could have gotten some pics of those tighter switchbacks, but was having too much fun keeping up with John's 348 and Jamie's 328 in the twisties! *grin* Image Unavailable, Please Login

Next time, cooler weather... Maybe even a green Dino... Damn! Looking at those photos makes me wish I had been there!
Nice to see another member of Pennock's Fiero Forum here. Your Formula looks right at home with the big dogs.
Thanks! It sure felt good. Haven't pushed the car that hard, like, EVER. ::chuckle:: Nice to finally wring it out.
