Been putting off a ground-up bathroom remodel for lack of competent advice, was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction. It will involve some interior wall and likely plumbing relocations; I need help with design, budget and obviously guidance as to what can and cannot be done (cost-effectively, at least), so I assume I need input an architect and/or interior designer with structural experience first to draw up a plan before engaging a GC? Anyone had any good experience using someone here in Houston? Thanks in advance.

I just did one, not long ago....for a "former friend"...LOL!

An architect might be a little much if you have a good eye for tile selection and what not, plenty of idea books out there.

Tub selection will drive the whole budget, and these days tile setters do not like reusing wall substrate, so just re rock the whole room....we had lots of trouble with the tile install as well, burning thru our supplied material..

As long as it's minimal renovation permits are not normally required our plumber did it all as a Repair Order....I thought it came out an 8 of 10 but had the tile work been flawless it would have been perfect....

I want to knock down common wall with master closet, relocate doors, put in a stand-alone shower, a new tub/jacuzzi and move the toilet, it needs to be quite a bit more involved than just re-tiling hence need for structural advice and feasibility.

We used this guy on our last house. He was great. Probably not the cheapest but he did things the right way.

My roommate works for Construction Performance, a remodelling company here in town. Their website is www.cphouston.com.

Contact Mike Teeple at 832-865-0800 for assistance. Let me know if I can do anything to help with contact.

yes. I suck at typing. Sorry.

He had a very good experience with him. He worked on our house built in 1935, matched all the stucco perfectly, and outside of the unknown foundation issues, he did it within the budget and his estimate.
