I borrowed a friends Go Pro camera and unfortunately couldn't get the sound to work properly so best to watch this with sound off as it's very crackerly. Here's a video of my lap. I love Phillip Island. I was told by a tyre guy that old tyres are good for this track. Others have said that new tyres are better. The tyres used here are the same ones used at the FCA event at Mallala in 2010 and have done a few track days at the Island as well. Might try a new set at the next track day. http://youtu.be/VDRcoCuG6j4
To be honest I didn't even look Wes, I just focus on looking ahead and only ever glance at the Tacho to make sure I change gear around 7500-8000 RPM. Never look at the speedo. It's quite a fast corner and I'm trying to learn to carry more corner speed something I have struggled to do in the 944. I think from memory I was in 5th in Scott's Michelotto around that turn.
with the Porker,I'd go through turn 1 in 4th then once straightened up back to 3rd and hold that through turn 2,the 308 must have more torque then the Porker,if i tried to climb the straight to turn 2 in 4th she would fall of the torque curve ,we must compare corners and gears. Great time, when i was racing in group SC the record was a 1.54.2 which i held with another Porker.
Re Godzilla, when I was there with Nissan, Luke Youlden did a 1.44 with me in the car. 261kph at the end of the straight. Dealer demo car on Std Tyres. My standard 308 would be 3 seconds slowed than Brett.
I dont post here often but Just wanted to say hats off to B27 and the yellow Ferrari. I remember seeing the long drawn out threads with the paintwork etc and to think now that the car is being driven hard around the track is a credit to the owner. I often see the Foam-mobile drive past work.. if only it was the 308! Keep up the good work
Thanks Adam. Next time wave so I can say hello. There is talk of a few more PI track days, perhaps you can get a day off and come for a look/passenger ride.
My mechanic has mastered taking wheels off and cleaning. Next will be to teach him how to check tyre pressures. Image Unavailable, Please Login
