About the time my Hellcat lease runs out. Maybe buy for my wife..... Couldn't tell but does it offer a manual?
Interesting comment. What makes it awful? The fact it has 455 HP. Or that it does 0-60 in 4.1 seconds? Would it be less awful if it had the normal 280 HP. Or is it the back doors don't have hinges but instead slide open?
didn't amg sell a performance minivan few yrs ago? no one bought them. my neighborhood probably has more honda minivans than anywhere in world so there might be one around here. funny how performance suv's are popular but not minivans. both are really used the same way by owners.
I have 3 kids, I could be interested in a 450 horsepower minivan, especially a Honda which ought to be relatively reliable, if it were a manual, and AWD (not just FWD), and WITHOUT THE GOD AWFUL BODY MODS!
You do bring up a couple of interesting points. The body is over done but at least in my opinion if the van drives and performs well I could overlook that. The other point is how do you put 455 HP to only the front wheels? Now that could be awful.
that image was just someones guess.... It does appear vans are coming back. MB, VW, Honda, Toyota etc all have Vans. SUVs have ruled the roost for decades..are folks looking for an alternative? A near 500 HP AWD mini-van sounds all right by me. If its safe, not ugly and in the $50-70k price range they will sell a ton. Remember Porsche created the original performance Mini Van with the B32. https://www.carthrottle.com/post/the-porsche-b32-is-the-coolest-911engined-van-you-never-knew-existed/
I hope it will have AWD, but the article does not state that. 455hp is a lot to push through a front driver!!
This can't be true right? I am still waiting for someone to say this is a hoax. If not I think it is pretty damn cool.
If you google Honda Odyssey Type R, there are a lot of links. However, these is nothing official at honda.com, hondanews.com or even vtec.net, the best and most reliable Honda gossip and insider info site. So, this may very well just be some out of hand dreams on the internet. If so, I apologize for posting it.
Still, I think it is a good concept (ignoring the FWD issue). My wife and I wonder a Chrysler AWD minivan for 8 years (we have not kids) and it was the most versatile vehicle ever. The AWD handled everything other than rougher off-roading. The versatility of the interior is unmatched by almost any SUV (want 4 seats and and 4 mountain bikes inside--no problem, want two seats and enough room for a queen sized blow up mattress--no problem, want three distinct areas to sit to don fishing waders--no problem). For most people (those who don't tow, who don't do harder core off road stuff), a minivan would serve there needs (other than vanity, appearance, etc.) better than an SUV. I think it is the reason for the new and growing field of light commercial vans--you can stand up inside them (try that in an SUV), you can fit them with interior racks or a huge assortment of other things, and so on.
Oh no worries at all. I am glad you posted it. I have been trying to go to other websites as well to see if it is real too.
If you want an AWD 3-row with a 4.1 0-60 time, you can buy a Dodge Durango SRT. I haven't because I've previously owned Chryslers and don't trust their reliability long-term, but otherwise it's a tempting proposition.
Not a minivan. The appeal of the minivan (I know, I know - very few people see this) is the low, flat floor. SUVs simply don't have this.
