I read this on Bill McGrath's web site in an article about the 250F: "... However, by the mid-fifties, it was getting out of control. They were spreading themselves too thinly between Formula One and sports cars and compounded by a business deal for machine tools in Argentina which had failed in 1955 ...". What's this about machine tools? What other businesses has Maserati been involved in besides cars?
Tool-Machines, as spark plugs and the motorcycles and more... - had been ventures the Orsi family was involved. Being clever businessmen, they used already then batch-engineering and marketed their other products with the trident. Indeed a deal with these tool machines failed and caused the whole Orsi group to re-arrange their business - with the known results on Masterati's racing ambitions.
Yup and some of them do exist, in various collections around the world. Some samples, shamefuly copied from the internet: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
All very cool. More stuff for me to start collecting. Walter, I especially like that Trident milling machine.
