I recently purchased 365GTC/4 #15343 from a private party in Southern CA who had owned the car for 18+ years. At the time I was told the car was originally owned by "Gentleman" Jim Kimberly, enthusiast, Ferrari race car driver in the '50's & '60's and heir to the Kimberly-Clark fortune. Preliminary research suggests the claim is accurate as the vehicle was advertised for sale in the November, 1989 issue of FML by Mr. Ray Egidi (of Dusenberg fame), Miami Beach, FL for $300K. In that ad Mr. Egidi noted the car was originally owned by Mr. Jim Kimberly. Further inquiry has suggested Mr. Kimberly purchased the car from Ferrari importer Luigi Chinetti and took ownership in W. Palm Beach, FL.
I would like to hear from anyone who might have any additional information on my car.
    Thanks,
    BK

Bob- I sent your thread to my friend Barry, who was in charge of Distribution at the US Ferrari importer, Chinetti-Garthwaite in Paoli, PA at the time the C4s were imported.

    His reply, and my response:

It’s been a long time, but I do remember this vaguely. I recall that Kimberly bought a Ghibli and I recall that he bought a GTC/4. That’s about all that I remember except that for one of the deals, I flew to Palm Beach, picked up a 66 Excaliber for the trade in and drove it back to Rosemont. Worst long distance drive I ever had. I could not hear anything for about 2 weeks after that.* Either the Ghibli or GTC/4 or both were then delivered to Kimberly’s home in the Chesapeake Bay area ( not by me). I’m pretty sure that the Ghibli was a white coupe and the GTC/4 I don’t remember the color for sure but I think it could have been white or silver. Time frame for both deals, Ghibli 1971 or 72, GTC/4 was between 72 and 74 . There should be some sort of date recorded in the leather pouch papers.* Those GTC/4s were really nice driving cars and the farina bodys were very good quality compared to the scaglietti quality on the Daytonas and Dinos.

If I can remember anything else about the Kimberly deal I’ll get back to you.

    Barry-

As always, your memory is outstanding.

**I personally delivered Jim Kimberly's first Ghibli, a new five-speed "'68" 4.7 coupe in*Rosso Cordoba with tan, in the early fall of '68 to his farm on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
    * That's when the supercharged Excalibur was brought up from Palm Beach as a trade-in. We drove everything back then, didn’t we?- were there no trucking companies? When the Excaliber returned to PA, I sold it to a friend’s father. I don't remember what happened to the car after that.
Kimberly liked the Ghibli, and subsequently ordered a white/ tan automatic 4.9 coupe from us. When the car arrived, we had Mr. Derham's upholsterer (Miles Donnelly?) redo the carpeted rear shelf, and converted one area to conceal large storage boxes. *
I was not involved with the ordering of the C4.

Affectionately known as "Gentleman Jim Kimberely" in the 1950s When he finally got fed up with Chinetti etc he went to Aston Martin and drove the beautiful DBs of the day. There is an issue of Popular Mechanics with him on the cover and a feature article inside. If you Google him you should be able to find a copy for sale. just one man's opinion tongascrew

Hi, If your still looking for info on the C4 I would be happy to help.I know the car very well. My late father Roy Egidi and myself had the car in our collection. I personally drove the car regularly. I loved it. Was one of the best sounding ferraris . We purchased the car from Don Aronow of Cigerette Racing boat fame. He and my father were having lunch and he expressed his thoughts about selling the car. They agreed on a price ,I brought over a check and drove it home. The car was silver with black seats. The paint had become faded from sitting in the sun at the boat yard. We decided to take the paint down to metal and resprayed it using the red salchi paint we had in storage. We also had the seats redone in cream. The car was fast and sounded terrific. I myself drove it quite often. Was sad to see it go. Hope this helps.Hope you still have car and love it as much as we did. Out of the 12 that we owned over time that one we had the most fun with. If you still have the car and I can help with any questions Id be happy to help.
