I bought this tool from @Ricambi America probably a year or 2 ago, but I just took it out of the package tonight. I had my wife turn the motor until it got to the right spot where the tool sat flush against the case..2 holes line up perfectly, but on the other side I can't even get the screws started. I want to say I remember someone else having this problem but I can't find it. Was there are run of these that were "off" or am I missing something? I've tried turning the motor to different spots, turning it backwards (the tool), making tiny moves, same result every time...This is very frustrating to say the least.

    didn't use the tool
A big bolt was used . Placed between a teeth and the edge of the hole. Voila!

it is possible that we used the tool wrong.
it has to be placed differently somehow. I don't know
at least it is not something well designed.
People say hill engineering is better than OEM. I am an ardent user of hill engineering, but claiming its better than OEM is really without emperical data.

As much as I paid for this POS, I want to use it. I can't imagine that we are the only 2 people that have ever had this problem...

I guess not a lot of DYIer use this . I've seen at least 3 people diy there timing belt that don't use this tool, or they don't know this tool exist at all.
what im doing for my next gig, is to drill the hole a little bit

Call Daniel at Ricambi. Maybe you got a V12 version tool (no clue), but Daniel can help.

Grind out the tool slot a little to allow the bolt to line up.

I have that tool. You are not lined up correctly. If all else has failed, you can certainly make the holes a little bigger with no ill effects.

Well apparently I just needed to be a little uglier with it. I moved the motor a tiny bit until it looked like the holes lined up correctly, but it didn't sit perfectly flush so I took a break. Next day had a buddy help out that had done this before and just methodically tightened the screws and that seemed to do the trick. I guess I just didn't expect the fit to be that tight in the hole...oh well. Next trick is getting this stuck crank pulley out

36mm socket, and a long breaker bar. The pulley should just slide off.

Milwaukee impact pops it right off.

Well CNC equipment made the car and CNC equipment made the tool.

My vote is user error. There are only 3 flywheel positions the tool will fit.

And to the guy who says a Milwaukee pops it right off......After the engine is out of the car I assume?

Sometimes they take a little coaxing. Unless the prior installer was a moron. Then it can be hard. I had a 328 pulley that the installer thought he knew better than Ferrari. I destroyed it getting it off.

The bolt is out...it SHOULD slide off. But it's not. Haven't messed with it today, had company.

Argh :( yeah, mind just came off after the bolt was removed. I’m trying to remember if it was ever so slightly lubed and if I applied anything when I put it back on. I can’t recall, it’s been a few years ago now… I get I’ll have to find out when I do it again in a few more years… ‍♂️

You have to pull it straight out. I have had them come off by hand, with a puller by hand (to get a straight pull), with a puller with force, heat (to break up loctite) puller and force.

Yep. Impact does not fit and I remembered that I did use a long breaker bar and even had to cut down the big socket to get it to fit the tight space. Best to just stay quiet instead of saying stupid stuff.
