    Your handbook will show you the location of all regulatory labels and identification plates. The easiest VIN to find will be the one at the base of the windscreen and should be visible from the outside through a ‘window’ in the windscreen itself.

    the DMV in my country requires that i stencil the VIN engraving for renewal of my registration :(

    I believe there is one you can use for that in the passenger door jamb.

    You should also be able to have the VIN verified by an approved mechanic.

    At least that’s the way it works in the US.
