I recently (3 Years ago) purchased an intriguing Ferrari jacket from a vintage event in Stuttgart, and I can’t stop wondering about its origins. I’m hoping you can help me identify and place this jacket in its historical context, particularly whether it might be linked to Formula 1 or Ferrari workshop staff.

    Description of the Jacket:

Color: Classic Ferrari red with beige-gray accents.

Material: Durable, workshop-ready canvas or cotton fabric.

Ferrari Logo: Prominent on the back and the chest.

Shell Logo: A large Shell logo, reflecting Ferrari’s long-standing sponsorship.

Italian Flag: Located on the left sleeve, adding to the authentic Ferrari branding.

Special Feature: A rubber patch with Velcro on the chest, seemingly intended for name tags or role identifiers.

    Questions for the Community:

    Formula 1 or Workshop?

Could this jacket have been used by Ferrari mechanics in the Formula 1 team?

Or was it more likely designed for Ferrari staff working in official workshops or service centers?

    Time Period:

Based on the design and logos, I assume this jacket dates back to the late 1990s or early 2000s. Could it be tied to Ferrari’s iconic Schumacher years?

    Manufacturer:

The label inside reads CBF Balducci, an Italian company known for producing Ferrari team apparel. Does anyone have more information about this brand or its relationship with Ferrari?

    Collector’s Value:

If this jacket is indeed connected to Ferrari or Formula 1, how much might it be worth, especially in very good like brand new condition?

    What I’ve Considered So Far:

The robust construction, Shell sponsorship logo, and Velcro patch suggest this jacket was made for professional use.

However, it’s unclear if it was directly related to Formula 1 or used more broadly for workshops or Ferrari events.

Buying it in Stuttgart may just be a coincidence, or there could be some link to Ferrari’s motorsport legacy in Germany.

    Looking for Your Expertise!

I’d greatly appreciate any insights from the community. Whether it’s about the origins, the purpose of this jacket, or potential experts I could contact for verification, every hint helps.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice!

    Best regards

The one on eBay is quite different, not really the same except for basic style.

Really? It's pretty much the same jacket, no? This one has some blank patch on the chest instead of the open velcro for the one on ebay, but otherwise...

In any case, for the OP who was asking what these jacket are: the various sellers of these jackets (short and long versions) seem to identify them as staff/mechanic jackets used by dealers for their mechanic staff

I think that is a factory workers jacket. When we were there in the early 2000's you'd see a lot of those.
