Hey guys, I’m looking for replacement “fuzzy” strips that go at the bottom of the side windows in the doors. Sometimes they are called wipers or scrapers. There are two per door. The outside one is riveted to the anodized trim on the door, the inside one is attached to the door panel, and look to be the same material on my car.

I’ve already called several places (Ricambi, Ferrari Parts Exchange, etc..) and they say it is NLA.

Any thoughts on other places to look or experience with a replacement trim from a restoration supplier?

Looks like a good match. If you would, let us know how they look when your order arrives.

Thanks for the quick reply, Ron

Got mine from TRutlands in 2006 which was ordered as 'Window Scrub'. It is NOT nos Ferrari but identical to what I removed from my car if not better. It is a pliable metal strip covered but composite cloth + fuzzy felt-like material. Plush quality feel.

Cost was $5 per foot. Width is 1 1/8" Installation will require cutting not only ends to fit but two half moon shaped cuts and holes for pop-riveting it to the panel. IIRC 3 feet per side is adequate.

I got some from superformance for the inside. They were different, but supposedly the part number superseded that part. They're slightly different, but work great.

    http://www.superformance.co.uk/a-308/fittings.htm

    61811100 £11.60

I love superformance. They seem to have just about everything and the prices are reasonable. I don't even care about overseas shipping. I paid more for shipping a sticker from italiancarparts.com than my whole last parts order from superformance.

sorry, this is the best photo I have...

Thanks Jason, and Paul. Looks like there are resources for these parts. I'll be glad to make this replecement as I'm in the process of a repaint and need all the trim to be able to "compete" with the new paint.

JASON - no door speaker? No radio? Sure makes the door look cleaner. Kinda wish matching rug material was available as I can't hear those speakers anyway. (and I've got 50w amplifiers pushing them.)

Yep, I removed the stereo, amp, speakers, and power antenna this year. In my strange mind a Ferrari shouldn't have a radio....and then may as well not have the speakers or antenna either.

I thought someone awhile back found the same stuff and it fit a Ford Fairlane or Falcon for about 10 cents a foot at some "Big Chain" auto place.

Just don't remember any more than that. Sorry.

I think that was the "u" channel gasket that runs in the window frame surround...

This is at the base of the window in early cars before the rubber lip design became part of the chrome bead moulding, all in one piece.

You have to slit, curve, and drill/rivet this material together with the outer moulding, on the old cars.....

It runs all the way end to end on the 76's...

It runs from the rear to the vertical 'vent' window mullion, on the '77s..... for lack of a better term I know the triangle is 'fixed glass"...

The outer pieces are part of a two part molding. There is an aluminum extrusion piece that sits on the door top then a rubber piece that sits between that one and the glass. The rubber piece has a flocking of some sort on it. You rivet through both pieces then into the door (lower hole hold only the aluminum extrusion, upper hold the rubber to the aluminum to the door).

FerrParts does have this rubber piece. BUT, the current stock/repop/whatever? is just rubber, no fuzzy. I know, I had the set from FerrParts in my hand, in my shop and discovered my OEM ones were still (barely) good enough to reuse. So if you want new rubber and can live without the fuzzy, they have them. As far as the inside fuzzy, I have no idea but need some myself so I'll stay tuned.

You are right I forgot about the rubber on the bottom of the chrome bead....against the paint.

There's no rubber on the glass wiping side, however.....

Hi Paul - I ordered enough "raw material" to do all of my window scrub. Their retail price is now 5.50/ft. (they have a jober price also). It looks to be the same as the other restoration material suppliers, but with the best price and from folks who know Ferrari's (fwiw).

For folks looking to replace this part - I'll report back on how well it matches my original trim.

Hi Rick, on my GTB, the outer "scrub" and inner one are made out of the same fabric and "fuzzy" material (no rubber). Not sure if this is a year model variation, or different trim for GTB vs GTS.

Funny I've taken all the same photos as I've pulled all the trim, locks, window and window frames off of my car prepping for paint. Hope to start a post on the painting soon. We all like restoration threads.

For those looking for the window scrub to match the inside (on the door panel) and for some 308's, (like mine) the outside also - Paul had a good lead. The material I ordered from TRutlands matches perfectly - no need to post a pic. It looks just as Paul_308 shows in his post to this tread.

    Thanks for the help. Ron
