Thanks F456M, the color combo is what pushed me so quickly. These puppies are so rare, I figure if a clean one comes up - I need to snap it up.

    Cheers

Agree 100%. Mine is dark blue with cream. Impossible not to like. The light leather shines through the windows long before the car have passed! The 456M was black with green interior! Quite special...

    Okay first update,

Car runs great, getting the hood struts replaced, a turn single lamp, slight leak from the header gasket, getting AC recharged. Don't see anything else awry (yet).

    ...and so it begins.

+I've purchased 10+ magazines that are in the process of getting scanned which I will provide to the community. I will also consolidate the videos from heroes on this forum all in one place.

Also bought the official 456 cologne, talk about a hilarious accessory.

I am guilty as charged, I wrote this 3 years ago on this very 456 forum
    ;)

I shall be doing a 'fragrance' review (i'm serious) when they arrive in the mail. I'm just wondering if driving the car while inhaling the aromas is a necessary component to a fair assessment?

Okay so before I ship the car, I'm having the guy that did my PPI go ahead and do the following since he charges MO costs vs California. Let me know if there is anything else I should do?

    Adjust Valves
    Change Oil/Transmission Fluid/Differential Fluid
    Change Timing Belt
    Air Filters/Fuel Filters
    Spark Plugs
    New Battery
    New Coolant hoses
    Recharge A/C
    Valve Cover Gasket

    Having him inspect engine mounts/fuel pumps/radiator/water pump/rear leveler/shocks/bushings

    Windows seem fine.

No smoking or sign of dreaded valve guide issue (so far)

    What am I missing?

I'm sure you have this already but when you do the timing belt, you should replace the belt tensioners and use Hill Engineering parts rather than factory parts. Much better bearings. And, while everything is accessible, you want to inspect the coolant hoses that run through the valley between the heads as you have on your list. Gets mighty hot up there. Inspect as a minimum and potentially replace with the silicon hoses from Rampante. http://****************.com/sri-coolant-hoses/ There is a 456 Coolant Hose kit listed on that page. Roughly $1330 for a complete kit.

Actually, I think you have it pretty well covered, Paul. Go get 'em.

Paul, the cross referenced interchangeable parts thread is your best friend here. Those bombs are a common part and the pricing difference between Ferrari and other car models is significant. Same vendor, same part, very different pricing. Enjoy!!

    6) Adjust valves
    7) Replace spark plugs
    8) Replace cooling hoses
    9) replace fuel filters
    10) recharge A/C

    Things I might do
    11) Replace alternator
    12) Replace water pump

I do recommend the 575 motor mounts. They have limiting droop tabs that keep the motor from sagging down onto the power steering hoses.

alright, it came in. My wife and I laughed out loud. Truth is though, I love it. That's what I adore about Ferrari. The at times over the top pomp and circumstance, I prefer to call it 'passion.' Yes, it's my guilty pleasure and I won't go all Family Guy on you all. But it's still cool to me.

Now, what did it smell like?

The first thing that came into my mind was....the 80's haha, it reminded me a lot of Armani, with floral notes (I guess that' the early 90's creeping in) - so exactly what one would expect from the epoch.

My wife said "Musky with an undertone of petrol" haha.

Just scanned a few magazines, will post for all to enjoy in another thread.

    Cheers

Couldn't live without that thread!! BTW, got warm enough and not raining today so mine came out of the garage for the first time since winter. Well, the clock was still right so last drive in the fall was just before the time change. Shaking my head. Too long!! She fired right up, all temps and pressures normal and we took a little spin for all the bearings. Ahhh....
