Hi everyone, I am currently rebuilding my 246 engine and whilst it is out of the car I want to replace the damaged heat / sound insulation foam that fits against the bulkhead in the engine bay. So far I cannot find a supplier anywhere, is there anyone out there that can advise me where to get it?

McMaster-Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com/#foam-insulation/=29zlfp) search for foam or thermal insulation. They have many choices. I can't remember the part number that I used, but I ordered it with adhesive backing, 1" thick. Pay attention to indoor versus outdoor use, closed cell versus open cell, and temperature range (200 degrees is sufficient). Silicone sheets are quite good, but quite expensive. Stick with the polyurethane or the like.

OMGjon spent quite a bit of time detailing the answers to this in his first restoration project.
Result was fully isolated rear trunk with heat resistant results - best known so far.

Scott - with respect to sound insulation, I put Dynamat everywhere. It makes a big difference. Door skins, roof, floor, passenger-side of firewall, front footwells, etc. However, I interpreted Nick's question to specifically address the engine-side firewall foam - the black thick pad that sits on the engine side of the wall. The OEM is obsolete, but McMaster-Carr sells something very similar.
