Roberts Bar on Broadway is a great dive bar for quality live music. After you make a lap of Broadway, you'll want to move on to better pursuits.

Printer's Alley (the street) has some great spots...Skull's Rainbow Room for dinner (live jazz, and they do a cheeky burlesque show that's fun) , Boogie Blues Bar next door...several other good spot to stumble into on that street.

Rudy's Jazz Room at 809 Gleaves St is a great late night stop...small, dark, great live jazz....Carter's Vintage Guitars is right around the corner.

3rd and Lindsley music bar is nice.
In Germantown, lots of cool little restaurants...5th & Taylor is trendy chic, large bar and outdoor patio.

Near Vanderbuilt Univ, for breakfast try Biscuit Love (2001 Belcourt Ave), or the Pancake Shop across the street..awesome. There are also some good bars (Double Dog), shopping, and food (Hop Daddy Burgers out of Austin, TX) all within the block.

Another thumbs up for Rudy's Jazz Room. Broadway is okay, but the crowds and endless bachelorette parties are tiring after a couple hours.
