Depending on the date and time, I may be able to make it... I'll be near L.A. possibly the last week of Feb.
Hi All, Here's a link to the Mullin Museum. My recommendation is for us to meet at 10AM at the museum. Afterwards, we can take a poll of those interested in a post-tour lunch nearby. LOCATION 1421 Emerson Avenue Oxnard, CA 93033 This is one of two "open to the public" days this month, but my guess is that F-Chat's headcount will far outnumber the general public. Cost for entry is: Adults $10 Seniors (62+) $7 Children (5-12) $5 Children under 5 FREE http://www.mullinautomotivemuseum.com/tickets--information.html
nice watch Peter! bummed I'm gonna miss it this weekend. do you know the next "open" date? I'd like to check it out sometime.
Hope you're wearing a short sleeve shirt; it'd be embarrassing if I had to go to each guy in the museum and pull up his shirt sleeve to see what kind of watch he's wearing!! We're in town tonight, see you there tomorrow. About tickets, we bought our tickets ahead of time via the web.
I received a very nice call from the Museum today. I told them to expect ~20 of us. Still trying to decide what to drive up in- modern & comfy, or vintage and Italian...
Bought my tix tonight. Will be there with my black Porsche 993 cab. Not to be rude, but I'm heading upstairs for pics of the race cars when the doors open.
It looks confusing, but it appears that one MUST purchase tickets in advance, electronically. I've just done so. If any of you arrive without pre-purchasing tickets, you may need to hop on your smartphone in the parking lot- but I recommend that you do so tonight.
Hope everyone enjoyed the museum. I could not make it out but here are some pictures from a visit last year. http://www.speedandmotion.com/pictures/mullinmuseum032810/index.html
On my end, the visit was a blast. It was just F-Chat and a local Model-A Ford club, and it was fairly easy to figure out who belonged to which organization Both the collection and the facilities are jaw-dropping. I didn't get to meet Peter Mullin, but I did meet two of his borthers who were working as docents- it's a family affair there. No stanchions- you could get within a milimeter of any car, and the aforementioned docents were more than happy to open up any door or discuss the acquisition and/or restoration of any of the exhibits. I was fortunate to get to meet several F-Chatters. Afterwards, buddy Steve and I hit the local Wood Ranch BBQ and then went by the Camirillo Air Museum, where we inadvertantly strayed into the restoration area. One of the volunteers "escorted us out" via a private, 30-munite tour of their aircraft including the opportunity to sit in their C-46 and newly acquired C-47. Just a great day. If only I'd have brought more than my cellphone camera...
One of the best car museums I've ever been to. Very well thought out, the quality of the cars is outstanding. The Museum curator was there giving insight, opening cars and hoods, etc., and the Mullen Bros. where also there giving explanations, etc. If you are in the area and the museum is open, this is a must see.
