Does anyone know a good source for a hazard warning switch for a 1980 400i? Was the switch used by any other cars of the same vintage?

Aidan, I don't have my parts book with me. Do you have the part number handy?

Nevermind. It has been superseeded to 60053600. McCann has it for $90.

The original is a Lucas part. Check an old Jag application (your factory front radiator fans are from an early XKE)

    By the way...

I think it is a 7 pole switch.

To take it out on your car,

Remove the black trim ring on the radio, then release the pins on either side of the radio to slide it out, there is just enough slack in the wires to pull it out without having to disconnect it. Then bend the tabs out on the "steel" sleeve that holds the radio, pull the sleeve. Now you should be able to reach your hand in and get to the switch.

    Hope that helps.
