The Augusta Alfa 33 Stradale was due to be shown last year in Villa d'Este.
A short film was released here:
The owner is from Switzerland and known for owning at least another 33 Stradale which allowed him to win the Coppa d'Ora at Villa d'Este & countless Lamborghinis.

Marcel, as you were there, behind the 312B3 could it be a F1 Alfa Romeo 179 with Marlboro livery?

#110. I brokered that 33 Stradale to him about 10 years ago! It won at Villa d`Este some years ago.

Best part of owning Stradale (4), is that they all are very different in their peculiarities.

I have seen a large amount of them, had the pleasure of starting one, (with a crew helping!) a brief intoxicating drive,
and, I must confess, it is my all together favourite car in the world.

    Regards, Alberto

Should you or anyone else want to read more about the Hayashi collection and the man himself (I believe he was big in womens fashions), check out Steve Griswolds blogs here -

We hear a lot about financial crises but it still blows my mind that for a brief period in the late 1980s, early 1990s Tokyo real estate was worth more than the entire GDP of the USA. No wonder nearly every collector car was sold to Japan!

I remember the worry at the time was that important cars were disappearing into Trusts that would never let them go or let them see the light of day. That didn’t really come to fruition.

I remember a Forbes Magazine cover story from the peak of the Tokyo RE boom back then that featured a stack of US currency. They calculated that the cost of a dollar bill-sized piece of downtown Tokyo land would cost $18,000 USD. Crazy times and (obviously) unsustainable.

I had some Japanese friends in early 90's who moved out of Tokyo and they told me they could no longer afford to live in Tokyo since their salaries would not be sufficient to sustain them there. Crazy times.

I know Mike Sheehan posted a series of article in Sportscar Market during the early 2000s (attached below). At least one covered life as a high end broker in the period. Apparently he would fax his offer sheets daily and $10mm Ferraris would be bought and shipped sight unseen. I mean if your little slice of Tokyo was worth that much and the banks were letting you borrow against it, why not?

This is still happening (in various degrees) in many capital cities and big metropoli around the world. Try living in central London without a banker's salary.... Or NYC
