Are there any known Enzo accident-caused deaths? The Carrera GT has growing list of deaths..of course Paul Walker, that internet marketer, VRA Alexander, and Im sure some unknown ones. I guess there must be some unknown Enzo deaths, my point is I feel like the CGT is much more of a widow maker than the Enzo, there's a chance the Enzo hasn't killed anyone at all?

Hopefully CGT's deaths will make the CGT owners realize they need to drive carefully!! Especially the lawsuit against Porsche for Walker's death has been quite widespread.

IIRC VR Alexander didn't die in a cgt crash. Wasn't it some sort of hill climb race similar to Pikes Peak where he went off the road?

My understanding is it was a highly modified 996 twin turbo at the first annual Spectre 341 Challenge hill climb in Nevada.

Agree the CGT is trickier to drive but there are also much more of them than the Enzo so a direct comparison of accidents/deaths should be adjusted by production numbers I would think.

At least two men were killed in an Enzo:
    October 30, 2005, in chassis #136725.
    October 21, 2006, in chassis #134952.

That is a good point about the production numbers. Didn't know that about VRA.

I guess it is a bit strange, my reason for posting it was comparing the CGT and the Enzo's "out-of-handness." Though Galt made a good point about the production numbers...kind of defeats the purpose.

Can't think of anyone who got seriously hurt in an Enzo or CGT when being driven at the speed limit.

In other words, when you adjust for speed, the Enzo and CGT are likely two of the safest cars ever built.

And if you consider all the accidents related to speed, an ordinary sedan is likely off-the-chart compared to these super cars.

True but that's cause of production numbers.

If we could get complete data (which we probably cant) comparing the ratios would be interesting.

I agree with you about the speed limit but I still think the CGT is a basket case compared to the Enzo. Serious injuries aside, even Jerry Seinfeld crashed his...

At the same time I get it, its part of the CGT's character to be VERY planted. So what is it that goes wrong? Is the throttle too touchy? Does the car egg the driver on? Also the Enzo does have stability control while the CGT does not, why did they do that?

The Enzo and CGT are amazing cars, there will never be anything like them again. LaFerrari and the 918 do nothing for me. I also used to think the pre-dual clutch F1 transmissions would be undesirable, but they're a moment in time that we will likely never see again, they offer a certain rawness that fits with the Enzo. These two cars are blue chip investments and I will own one someday. I think their wildness is what contributes to their value. The SLR is up there two solely because of the McLaren badge.

Is Jerry Seinfeld supposed to be some sort of car driving god?

If you drive like an idiot, the CGT will punish you for it. Quite simple. Other cars build from the same era and newer (and a lot of earlier cars) are, like you say, with stability control. People have taken that for granted and think because they can drive car X at certain speeds, they think they are driving gods. Stability control does a lot to flatter drivers and makes them think they're good drivers.

Have them jump in a CGT, and drive in the same way, it has resulted in bad crashes/deaths.

Paul Walkers crash was a combination of things: Excessive speed, hooliganism and very, very old tires. Tires where still the original ones from new, so very hard and low grip, not even replaced with same tires or Porsche's recommendation of newer Michelin's that really make the car drive/feel as it should.

exactly my thought, just because some one is famous and rich that makes him a good driver?
a crappy driver with no understanding/awareness of the road and his/her limit will crash no matter what car he/she drives, even in a prius

    Bas is so correct.

At the age of 17, my first car was a Mini 1000, its 0-60 time was about 30 minutes, downhill.

Today through hard work and a modicum of luck I drive cars I could only dream of as a 17 year old.

And even though I have been on superbly run driving courses, and occasionally push my cars hard (versus my standards) I never forget for a moment I am not a professional driver and no one can defy the laws of physics.

My joy is experiencing the creative engineering genius Ferrari builds into its cars. But never beyond my own capability. I am still that 17 year old, I am in awe of the beautiful cars I now own and I cherish every day I have them. Why would I drive them like an idiot, risking my life, other people's lives and the cars I love? That's madness.

In time nothing will give me greater happiness that my cars will pass to someone else who today has only started driving, probably owns an old battered Ford Fiesta ST and dreams of Ferrari. But that's hopefully many years in the future.

The title of this thread is "Has the Enzo killed anyone?". The answer is No.......but a couple people have been killed while driving one.

Not rebuilt. Two new cars were built using the same number.
TTBOMK one is in the Republic of San Marino and the other in England.
