My '01 360 Spider's tan top is showing some age...

-previous owner(s) apparently stored with top down, leaving creases that are quite visible with a tan top
-inside areas around the plastic rear window are deteriorating
-top doesn't seem to be 100% evenly aligned...gaps are different on one side versus the other.

So I'm looking into replacing the top (fabric w/window) and of course having it aligned properly when re-installed.

Ferrari's list price for this material (exterior only) is $13,689 for the parts alone! Ricambi can help me save money but it would still be major money. I'm waiting to hear back on pricing from Ferrari salvage companies but I'd be pretty surprised to find something new enough and undamaged.

I've found some other companies selling replacement tops for the 360...mostly in the $1800-$2500 range. I think the labor figure on top of that may be $2000-3000.

Does anyone have experience with these replacement tops?

Has anyone had to replace their top? If so, what did you get and how much?

    Thanks in advance.

I had the rear plastic replaced by a local upholstery shop (Auto Tops and Interiors in Raleigh). Cost was very low (approx $500.00 off the top of my head) and the replacement looked perfect except for the missing horse in the corner. I believe they had to remove the cloth to do this work, so they may be able to fix some of your other issues if they are not mechanical issues. Talk to Tommy Gardner if you call them, as he is the owner (joint with his family, I believe).

Thanks Lou! Bob @ Apex was telling me about a place in downtown Raleigh...probably the same place.

Very likely the same place. They have done work on multiple Ferraris (carpet, seats, plastic windows), including work on both of mine. Looks like a dump from the outside but the work has been very good and inexpensive. Walking distance to the restaurant/bar district, so the trip wouldn't be a total loss even if you didn't like them ;-)

WE buy the tops from GAHH and install them in ourselves. The book allows 10 hours for install, the first one took all day now its about 4 -5 hours if you don't screw around.

    Thanks for the info!

    What is involved?

Remove the mechanism, remove old fabric from mechanism, install new fabric onto mechanism, re-install in car? Or can the top be replaced without removing the mechanicals of the top from the car?

Mechanism stays attached to the car. You just run it half way so the leading edge of the top is sticking straight up . Work your way from the back to the front, as its much easier to attach the rear when the top has some "slack". You will need some contact cement to hold the fabric around the bows when you are putting the screws back in.
