I started a thread on here that my Air Conditioner all of a sudden quit working.
I took my F430 today to an Indi mechanic and they determined it to be bad clutch on the A/C Compressor. (There's 12V present on the A/C Compressor Connector)

I found a brand new A/C clutch rebuild kit in eBay for $350.00. Very reasonably priced.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/A-C-Compressor-Clutch-Kit-for-Ferrari-California-Enzo-F430-NEW/152683732031?fits=Make%3AFerrari&hash=item238ca8dc3f:g:U9IAAOSw37Baa2R5&vxp=mtr

    My question is:
    • Has anyone here done this?
    • How difficult is it to do?
    • Is this something I can do myself or just take it back to the indi mechanic and let them do it?

They are estimating 2 - 4 hours to complete the job from start to finish.

I did a search here and came up with nothing.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dan

    Hi Dan,

First thing is there enough room to remove clutch assy with compressor still in place...our firewall is directly in front of it....I know we have a inspect plate which could help with room and accessabilty.
If above is a yes then you will need basic tools along with a angled snap ring pliers...
Then it's a matter of sliding clutch pulley off magnet then unbolting the magnet from compressor housing.
Could be quite challenging without a lift...
Too bad your so far away would be happy to help out..

I’ve looked at these kits before in the UK and for other cars they are $100.
I’d check first to see if the eBay part has Ferrari tax applied.

My compressor went out on my 430 and I had it rebuilt at a place called, Mobil Air Parts in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
The number is 770-963-4308. I am not sure whether my problem is the same as yours but it ended up costing me $250 to have it
rebuilt. Maybe they can help you with the AC clutch. Good Luck

Thanks Kaspar and everyone for chiming in.

    I dont have a lift.
My knees still hurt from recent knee replacement surgery.

So I ordered the clutch rebuild kit from eBay and I will just take it to my Indi mechanic for installation when it comes in.

    Thanks again.

By the way, there is now a company that advertises in eBay that will rebuild an F430 clutch for $350.00.
You send it to them in Florida, they rebuild it and send it to you back in 2 days (per their advertisement.)

Cant beat that deal, and glad to see we now have better options than paying the steep Ferrari tax.

Dan did you look into getting quickjack? They work really well and you get some good height out of them without putting in a lift. You can easily get under the car on a creeper. I know you like working on your car so it would probably work out well for you if you didn't want to put in a full size lift. I use mine all the time.

    Thanks for sharing.

220 Euro is definitely a great deal for a brand new compressor! We may look into contacting Delphi when the entire A/C compressor needs to be changed.

    Thanks for sharing info!

And your English is just fine!

    Good morning Dan
    Greece gmt+3

If it helps you the compressor is the same as maserati 4200 it is not difficult to change the compressor(about two hours) and it is the best solution you have not problem for another ten years After two hours (because it is Saturday) if you want i call the mechanic if he has the old compressor and tell me the type of delphi but you can see the label on it I think it is the best solution for you because it is cheapier to change the compressor from the repair clutch kit and you have all the compressor new Goodbye

    Hi,

Thanks for the offer. I sincerely appreciate it, and I agree with you that if we replace the entire compressor with a brand new one it will last another 10 years worry free.

At this time I decided to just replace the compressor clutch. I already purchased the clutch and it already arrived and Im having my mechanic install it tomorrow, Tuesday.

However, yes please, for the benefit of me and other members of this chat board if you can kindly share with us the Delphi A/C Compressor part number that fits the Ferrari F430 that would be great.

    Thank you!

    Dan

I was mistaken I actually have the 5000. I could have swore I ordered the 3500 but I just looked and they are the 5000bl. I had them for over a year and I guess senility is kicking in. Sorry for any confusion.
