Let me start by saying hello. Although I have logged on quite a bit over the last two months, I have not posted much. I own a 1972 246 GTS and I am looking for the spare tire hold down device. I have gone through the more common sources such as re-originals,McCann,Parts Source, with no luck. Any help or leads would be greatly appreciated. I am also looking for a tool kit for this car. I have found a seller with a partial tool kit and a complete jack but he is not willing to split them up. If anyone needs this jack, perhaps we could work this deal out. Thanks in advance for any help.

Here is a site that has some spare tire holdowns listed, though not specifically for a 246, in the picture he just list various Ferrari ones.

    http://www.racecar.co.uk/paulbaber/index.htm

click on "parts" and the 3rd item down on that parts web page.

I bought a reproduction 'spare wheel bolt with plate, Dino 246 Cromodora wheel' part no. 20043402 from Dennis McCann last year for a friends Dino. The quality was superb and it looked just like my original, the cost was $185 I think, originals are like hen's teath, and for once I don't think are worth searching for.

I have a guy in England who has an amazing collection of spare parts, and of friends he trades parts with.

I've emailed him about your need, and I'll pm the results to you late this afternoon.

Have you tried Superformance in the the u.k.? He sells new parts and may run across originals from time to time. (http://www.superformance.co.uk)

Believe its metal, it goes down thru the middle of the wheel to hold it down. The pic you posted has it missing, too.

I struck out on the wheel hold down, but did find a jack and a large variety of other parts.

PM me if you guys need stuff.

Also found that you can use a 70's brit car trunk prop in the Dino. Fits great, about $20 USD from Moss Motors.

I'm going to fit it up tomorrow, I'll post pix if it works well.

Mine got busted at the Reading Concours by a well meaning passerby.
