As a few of you may know, I had a nasty fall from a bike, September'08. My neurosurgeon has told me my riding days could be over. If I was to have a similar "off" I could do permanent damage
I'm looking for a good HANS for road use. Any information would be appreciated and give me back my fun time.....a

The HANS device will not work on a motorcycle as the device needs to be held down by the shoulder straps of a 5 or 6 point harness. If you take a look at the racers that use the HANS when they are out of the car it moves quite freely.

I am not sure about the application of this brace for road going motorcycles but you might want to check out http://www.leatt-brace.com/index.php?page_id=15&id=3

I know that these have become very popular in the motocross world and is growing in karting as well. This brace has very little movement when fitted properly but still allows for full range of movement of your helmet while you are riding so that you can still be able to look yet limit movement in the event of impact.

If I was a pro racer, I would have had an operation during the off season and been at winter training. I also suffered the same injury on my wrist as Casey Stoner, he was advised by Dr.Costa not to fuse the bone in his wrist, but his immediate racing career was more important than long term pain and movement restriction

Looks like overkill, but I think that's what I need. Matching body armour might please some people also.
Thanks for the link. When someone is passionate about something they will always find a way..

The motorcycle riders here in Central Florida have a simple operation done to remove the front part of their brain. Then when they crash or fall the injuries don't ever hurt. :D

basically a airbag neck brace that is triggered when the rider is mid crash. Sounds like what you need. I know Mac Archer was working on this concept back in the early 1990's. This may be his or a similar idea.

Not that I am disbelieving but I would not really feel safe with that device as they do not explain how it is able to sense when you are falling down. For example if it senses by using your head angle and your turn your head downward and back to look at a possible rear tire problem and that triggers the airbag. then it deflates how is it going to re inflate a second time. As bulky that the leatt brace looks at least you know that is there and ready to do its job.
