Those aren't baltimore houses, those are southern baltimore county houses, your profile is full of lies! Have you ridden Harford Road (seven sisters) yet?
When we lived up in the county I used to go that way all the time and then up through rock park and into PA. Now we're in AA county. Last truly fun twists all these bikes were on is VIR.
I just posted on another thread for how to start up a garaged queen who had been dormant for the prior 10 years. about 12 years ago, after having ridden most of my life, I took a spill riding a friend's spare bike. cut of by a driver who ran a red light. fx bones, skin graft on the upper thigh due to road burns, permanent facial scarring left to my face. I put my personal bike away and did not ride again. It also assisted that I was busy with working towards my heart attack (have not had one yet) working and raising 3 kids. well now my kids are now acting as my parents, I am pretty well over the anxiety of riding, and I am targeting putting insurance on the bike next month and using it for a month or two this year. first I need to get it started after sitting for 10 years in my dining room.
I had done track days and puts lots of miles on bikes. Mostly liter+. I stopped about 15 years ago. I still think bikes are incredible pieces of machinery. For some reason I really have the itch to get a bike to keep in Colorado to do some easy touring in SW Colorado and the canyonlands of Utah. Maybe a BMW GS. A Kawa Concours is easy. The itch is pretty bad, I hope it goes away.
Its the other guy you always have to worry about Mother releases video of son's deadly motorcycle crash in effort to raise awareness about safe driving | 7online.com
There was way too much traffic to be riding that fast. Most fatalities involve high rate of speed for the motorcycle and driver error in the car.
Didnt even have both hands on the handlebars..... Eliminated every chance he had for getting out of that bad situation.
If he had just a modicum of sense, he'd still be riding. I don't know about you but I never operate any motor vehicle expecting everyone else to be perfect. He did and paid the price.
Riding like you are the only person on the road in traffic? Well this is one of the expected outcomes.
Too much bike-related tragedy in my family for me to work up the courage to even sit on a bike. It's true that tragedy can strike anyone at any time, but one thing I've learned is that when someone buys a bike - the clock starts ticking. The lucky ones die, the unlucky ones stay behind as burdens to their families and endure a nightmarish existence of dependence and regret. Do I sound like a preachy prat? Probably.
If you do you pay the price like he did. Only a matter of time for the way he was riding. I feel bad for the driver of the car but any vehicle you drive you must be on alert. I thinks official I'm putting a camera on my vehicles when I drive. I have seen some really good near hits right in front of me. We just had a fatality this past week just down the street from My house. Bike was driving straight down the road and fed ex truck pulled out in front of him. He had no where to go, also no helmet.
I have been riding for almost 45 years. It's not rocket science. Wear good gear, do whatever you need to do to be a good rider, ride good equipment, don't ride on the street like it is a race track and assume no one else on the road cares whether you live or die. It's been working for me.
Inattentive driver nearly took me out yesterday. But for always assuming everyone is trying to kill and leaving myself an out, she would have killed me. She merged into my lane, on an "s" curve in a no-passing highway construction zone. This is certainly not the first this has happened, and it won't be the last, but in no way does it make me second guess riding. Mark

You guys never heard of electric vests/jackets? I came down the Palisades Pkwy into NJ one chilly October afternoon watching one of my riding buddies tweak the temperature on his (heated) vest. Had one hard wired to the battery (with a disconnect) by the next weekend.
Last week I saw 22 degrees on 395 in eastern California. Heated jackets are absolutely the way to go! Generally, the last two days I didn't see any temps over 45 and it was raining almost the entire time. Again, heated jacket and rain coat!
