I had the good fortune of being asked by Hagerty if they could use my '02 360 Spider for a photo-shoot for their upcoming market analysis magazine. I couldn't say yes fast enough.

And if that wasn't plenty cool, I was able to take a few laps around Lime Rock Park....chasing a Ducati!

Anyway, the online version of Hagerty's 2020 Bull Market report came out this week. They pick 10 collector cars that, based on activity they see (such as requests to insure, increased owner valuation coverage, etc.), are poised to increase in value. The 360 was one of those cars. According to Hagerty, they've seen a 22% increase in requests for insurance coverage, and according to one of the Hagerty guys on site, 360 owners are insuring their cars for 25% more.

You can do a search for "Hagerty 2020 Bull Market" to see the online version, or you'll get the actual magazine soon if you're a Hagerty customer. They were great people to work with, and watching the photo-shoot for two days at Lime Rock (and driving my car on the track!) was one of the most fun things I've done in recent memory. It's good to know that people in the industry think that Ferrari 360 values are on the rise.

The line up looks alot like the parking lot of my high school around the turn of the century. Minus the viper and 360.

Is the 360 in 2020 = the Dino in 1988?

Imho if the 360 was made in limited numbers it would be untouchable.

There is low prod number rarity. Then there is rarity due to accelerated attrition.., which I think attrition of 360’s is accelerating due to a number of factors.

some poorly main or lightly wrecked cars are worth more in parts..,

Even if there were almost 20K made, you don’t see many.
I wonder how many or what percentage are still on the road.

The 360 is still one of the few, very few, modern Ferraris that do not look dated. It is truly a timeless design and almost anyone who asks is shocked that my car is nearly 17 years old.

IMO, it's the flowing NON angular design devoid of unnecessary strakes, vents, and other design ques that have not worn well on other Ferraris of the past. The 360 body design has more in common with the Dinos (as mentioned by one4touque), the 60's GTC 250s and 330s, and most all of the 50's models-- and we all know what those cars fetch on the market these days.

Totally agree. Its design is timeless. The 360 made the alloy body/chassis the norm for future Ferraris. It does whatever you want it to do and its really fun doing it :). Reliability is great when maintained properly. I'm on my 4th one so yes you might say I'm addicted to the 360. Or you might say I'm afraid of commitment ;) Seriously anybody thinking about getting one don't hesitate, jump on it, you'll never regret it.

I bought a 360 because it's at a nexus between the analog and digital, the steel bodies and aluminum, the complex and the simple. The interiors are plush, yet spartan. The engine is normally aspirated, and the entire car yells "nothing unnecessary". Well, except that glass cover on the engine.

Will the 360 become the Dino of the future? Frankly, it doesn't matter as I'll probably be dead by then. In the meantime, I love driving my gated 360 Spider on any day the roads are dry.

Great article. Thanks for posting. Any idea how many gated 360 spiders in the U.S.? Most buyers went for the F1.

Great article. Great photos of a beautiful car. Thanks!

Hagerty has good info about our 360s and is one of the few sources to spin out Market data for F1 cars from consolidated F1 and manual prices. I really appreciate their efforts.

That's a question I have though a lot about. While the mechanical modifications (timing chains no more belts) and increased HP are an improvement, I'm not sure that will translate to a collectible a step above the 360. For me the 430 design inside and out is simply a warmed over 360. Most cosmetic changes seem to me to be change for the sake of change and IMHO not improvements over the 360 designed items-- I think of the single headlight 330 models versus the twin headlight 330s.

In my life as a designer/builder of cars, I try to live a motto of change for the better or leave it alone. I look at the 430 and I really don't see any cosmetic change over the 360 for the better, just different. And of course there's a lot of folks who just like different and newer.

And to add... Future values for the 360s for me is a non issue. I'm keeping mine and like John (EastMephis) said, my 360 will probably still be in the garage when I'm in the dirt only to be just one more item in the estate sale! :D

I bought my 360 last weekend and my neighbor was shocked that it was a 2003. He thought it was only a couple of years old.
