    Post'em up!

    Here's mine...

Godson made his annual visit a couple of weeks ago. I turned it into a Fieri Triple D adventure, with attempts to visit as many Portland outlets he's featured on the show. Managed to hit 4: Otto's Sausage and Meats, Pine State Biscuits, Edelweiss German Meats, and Chin's Kitchen.

Loved Otto's. Pine State disappointed. Above average for Edelweiss. Chin's turned out to be Max's favorite.

    Awesome!

I’ve been to a few Triple D joints during my travels.

Full Belly Deli - Reno. VERY disappointed.
Pat’s BBQ - Salt Lake. Amazing.
    Salsa Brava - Flagstaff. Amazing.

Wife and I found that if it was right after they appeared on 3D that it could be hit or miss. A lot of these small places couldn't handle the extra traffic. Quality suffers, service suffers, etc. Same deal with more than a few small BBQ joints after they appear in Texas Monthly.

Been to a couple I think but nothing too memorable. Hit one I think it was in Coeur d'Alene Idaho while passing through with some friends on the way to Montana years ago. Capone's I think it was, good pizza but nothing too special.

I liked watching the show but don't usually seek them out. Oh I think there are a couple others, one in Tacoma "Dirty Oscars Annex" that was pretty good been there a couple times. And one in Puyallup Crockett's Public House that was pretty good too.

Guy did a DDD at The Garlic in New Smyrna Beach, Fl. He raved about the food and the atmosphere, as he always does.

I’ve been there. The atmosphere is terrible - cramped, loud, dirty, full of crap hanging from the ceiling, communal tables.

The food was worse. I wouldn’t feed that swill to a dog. At least not a dog I liked at any rate.

Needless to say, I take anything Mr. Fieri says with a huge grain of salt, and will not be going out of my way to seek out places he recommends.

Pine State was the bomb back in 2010-12 when I lived up there. I too hate to hear its gone down but all of the PNW has IMO.

We don't target DDD places but have been to a few as our travels have allowed. These include, most recent that I remember at least:
    • Lavalle's Bistro - Fairbanks, Alaska
    • Salty's On 2nd - Fairbanks, Alaska
    • Fat Sa's - Los Angeles, CA
    • Beer Belly - Los Angeles, CA
    • Fab Hot Dogs - Reseda, CA

I've been stopping at this diner: 59er Diner and Cabins Leavenworth for years before it was visited. The owner might be originally from Canada because they have fries and gravy on the menu. The gravy is homemade. Fries with gravy is more of a Canadian thing.

We've done most of the ones around here in LA.

Fab Dogs - Moved around and I knew Joey Fab before the show aired. Fab family has a lot of SFV restaurant history
Beer Belly - sadly closed. Duck-fat fries were decadent.
North End Caffe - Great and still in regular rotation
Gloria's - OK but she let the burst of success go to her head and the place went to hell.
Little Jewel of New Orleans - Regular stop before Dodger Games
Rutt's - Good food great value
Jitlada - Hard core authentic Indian
Golden State - Good but too close to Canter's deli to make it a destination from here. LOL
There was an Italian place down in Long Beach that was good but we've never been back - Can't remember the name.
