Citroen?
AMF "Safety Car" BWAhahaahahahah Kinda looks like a Pepper...JK Nice job as expected on the 250F OK, everybody BUT Wayne...we can keep the ball going? Either what car is this, or who designed it, and what is it related to? Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's the Mercer Cobra, designed by Virgil Exner; an attempt to resurrect the Mercer nameplate in 1964.
Whoa. That was weird. I just posted the above message at 3:40pm PST but it ended up between Bill and Lee's posts with a time stamp of 2:38pm PST. What's up with that? Let me know when you guys have given up.
I guess all of my posts are getting wedged in here prior to Lee's at 2:43pm PST. [Edit: Except this one that shows as 2:44pm, even though I posted it at 3:46pm, well over an hour after Lee made his last post.]
The ghost of Elvis and Exner? I give up, howja do the post time thing? Did I get the Cayenne proto pic right? Has Bill been abducted by aliens? Was Judith Exner really Virgil's wife? Sorry...tangentially yours... Lee
The "Cayenne prototype," LOL! Actually, fellow F-Chatter Nika did a story on automotive saftey where she mentioned the AMF car once. It can be found somewhere on her RacerChicks.com site. No pics, though. Allow me to spoil the fun on the Exner car. It's the concept drawing for a 1966 Duesenberg roadster and a 1967 Stutz Bearcat roadster. Originally intended to add a roadster to the lineup, along side the Duesenberg sedan (only one ever built), it was rechristened as a Stutz after the Duesey revival idea went south. Then it was decided that the first Stutz revival car would be a coupe (Blackhawk) instead.
Wayne, you Bas***d! You beat me to it. I was just about to post the correct answer! Exner was involved in a number of efforts to resurrect nameplates of the Golden Era. Among them, Bugatti, Mercer, Duesenberg and Stutz. All looked surprisingly similar. None got off the ground, but Exner saw at least one of his retro efforts make mass production when Chrysler built the original Valiant and Lancer.
Yes. At the moment I am being held prisoner by an alien that looks surprisingly like my wife, and I have been sentenced to a weekend stripping wallpaper.
Name the car, the designer and it's most controversial styling feature. Image Unavailable, Please Login
What an idiot I am! The name is right there on the license plate. Oh well, it's an Ikenga Mk I, designed by David Gittens. There was a cover story on it in Car & Driver in the sixties. Viewed from above, it was supposed to resemble an African tribal mask.
Okay, try this one. It's actually kind of easy. What is the name, who is the designer, and what does the name mean?
Glue is good Bill I'm abstaining on this one... Good job on the Exner Dues/Mercer/Stutz. Renwal did 1/25 scale kits of 7 of his kits in 66-67, I have 'em all. Sick, ain't it? Lee
I remember those kits. I was 15 in 1966, grew up in Dearborn, Michigan, home of Ford, so I've had a serious car sickness for decades. But the guy who is seriously sick is Wayne. You and I grew up with this stuff but, if I remember correctly, he's in his early to mid thirties, so he doesn't have an excuse! Hopefully I'll keep away from the glue pot and won't make anymore Ikenga mistakes!
On the time stamp problem, we've had this happen awhile back, so you should remember. Since everything is Db driven, when you post, a time stamp is put on your post. Well, if the server clock is off, then your time stamp will be off too and the posts are sorted by post time. I have a cron job that gets the correct time from elsewhere every 30 minutes, but if the server is off then the posts can get out of order during that period.
Maybe just a little. Just getting to work on your latest mystery car. Looks like it's gonna be a tough nut to crack...
I can't find a match for this car in any book I have. Looks German. Other than that, I don't have a clue.

Here's one that isn't very hard at all. Name this interior (I've removed identifying characteristics.)
