Yes, body has definitely been built in Britain.

But what's underneath is much more interesting.

Other than the grille and windshield, this same body (constructed by UK coachbuilder AP Metalcraft and based on a design by Bidée) was used on the Alvis TB. The question is: What lies beneath? Talbot Lago?

Correct guess about the body - but no, not Talbot Lago.

The great car lurking beneath is, of course, restored back to original specification as soon as old thoroughbreds started to be valid outrageous sums of money.

Just did a little search and saw the same chassis mentioned in two threads dedicated to the model on this forum, in both cases with pics of car in its current specification.

I saw a photo of that car but can't remember where. British ? Is the pilot Mike Hawthorn ?

No, it's not British (and that's not Hawthorne).

By the way, I have a number of photos of this thing at various events, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find and identify. I also left the race number intact, which should help to narrow it down to series, location, and then the car itself.

H-Modified. Most likely Crosley powered? Race #121. Given the trees -- venue is either Pebble Beach or Golden Gate Park?

Based on the Crosley suggestions of the last 2 posters, William C. Dodds raced in 2 races under #121 in 1952 at the Sowega National Sports Car Races?

Crosley-powered H-Mod is correct, but this neither Pebble Beach nor Golden Gate Park. (One of those two is fewer than 300 miles away, though. :))

There were a bunch of Crosley-based H-Mods. This one's neither the Enoch car nor the Dodds car.

My guess: Milt Brown at 1956 Redwood Empire Sports Car Road Races in Arcata, CA -- 1st in HM class at the event.

Question: Does anyone know if this is the same Milt Brown who out of the Bay Area (NorCal) in the 60's did the Apollo sports cars with Italian coachwork and American powertrains?

Same name, location, and interest, but I'm not sure if it was the same man.

By the way, it's your turn to post up the next mystery car.
