Hi guys My gts is arriving soon. I want the dealer to install an exhaust valve controller before I take delivery. Which one/brand have you guys used on the GTS? Does it throw off any codes? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had the dealer install the Capristo valve controller on deliver of my SF and no problems. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Why would it throw codes? Valves open no matter what when you step on the gas so no it won’t throw codes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
On some of the newer Ferraris like the F8 and Portofino the valves are now electronically controlled by ECU vs vacuum. If you interrupt that function it can cause check engine lights. To the OP I have a Capristo valve controller on my GTS and it works fine with no check engine lights.
No, you have to order it yourself, but most Ferrari dealers will do that for you. The cost depending where you are can be about $1000-1200 installed by the dealer.
Yes you can order it yourself or have the dealer do it. My dealer has them in stock and installs them pretty regularly prior to delivery. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Thank you. I will have my dealer order one so it is ready to install at delivery. How Do you like having the valve controller in the GTS? I would imagine that I will just leave mine the permanent open position like the rest of my cars. But I like to the option of open/close. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes the ff doesn’t have ECU control over valves. I was told it started with the Portofino. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I like having the valve controller for that option of not waking up the neighbors early in the morning. I do leave it in the open position most of the time. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
You’ll lose warranty of the car if you ‘ ll install it ( even if installed and /or sold by a Ferrari dealer )
Not necessarily. Its a grey area. I will say of the cars I’ve driven with these valve controllers, I preferred them without. The cars have better throttle response with the valves working as the factory intended. My opinion is if you want to do this, you’re better off getting a full exhaust replacement and tune that takes it into account. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Emphatically disagree. I had one in my former F12, have one in my current 812, and intend to install one in my new Pista. I’m not an engineer, but I doubt that throttle response is even remotely affected. The 812 is a monster and doesn’t lack for instant response. Meanwhile, I don’t think changing out the entire system is necessary. Take the Pista for example, it is artificially made quiet until 3500 rpms. All the controller does is give you the option of defeating that artificial exhaust note restraint. FWIW, I opened the 812 valves and have never closed them. I plan on doing the same with the Pista. As always, YMMV.
I pinned the valves open on my 812 SF myself. Easy to do and made the exhaust note fantastic during normal driving revs. And mine is a non GPF car. I had my dealer install a Novitec remote when I put in a Brooke Race Exhaust X pipe and silencers. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Not in the United States you won’t. They’d have to prove that the valve controller was the direct cause of whatever happened. Good luck with that…
Well my dealer is the official Capristo dealer in my country, and according to them, it does not void the warranty. Two months ago I personally witnessed a Lusso with one, getting both transmissions changed under warranty. I asked another co tact I have in Maranello, and the message was clear. The only valve controller that will void the warranty, is the Forza controller which can keep the valves closed at all times. And according to bjth him and my dealer, this void of warranty only applies to the turbo cars. The Novi, Capristo, Tubi and Forza controller won't void the warranty. I have the Forza controller in my 812 GTS (have purchased several Forzas over the years for my TDF, SpAperta, Pista and Superfast) and is very reliable. Great to have the valves open at normal speeds to better appreciate the exhaust note, especially with the top down or just with the rear window of the GTS fully open.
I am deciding between Capristo or Forza valve controller for my new GTS. Does the Forza controller in your GTS have the "always closed" option? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I would not let valves closed all the time. Think about unhealthy exhaust back pressure when you get to full throttle
