For all you PS3 owners & Grand Turismo fans, at least it's something. http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5-demo-hits-december-17/
~6 more months. Why not get both? Wait who am I kidding, ~6 months means how many more years in *insert Japanese guy's name here* years.
We'll have to do an FChat fast lap challenge like the Forza thread. My PSN id is Latsyr8. Feel free to add me. Im excited to try the demo tomorrow!
It's out on the Japanese store already. The physics are vastly improved since Prologue. You can really feel the weight of the car and it snaps around turns. The roads are bumpier it's really easy to spin out. The academy demo is locked to pro physics with driving assists off. Bring on the full game. I can't wait to see the rally and night races.
Made a Japanese account and D/L'd the demo... I turned it off and went back to FM3 about a minute later.
It's available now for NA download, check in the PS Store search tool under "turismo". Opps, didn't see your post Schaden. I've been following it on GT Planet.
I use no assists on either. I don't understand why the professional physics has been altered so much since the prolouge.
I was a little disappointed also. The physics feel completely different than prologue...almost like the car glides around on ice. Graphics not as polished as expected either. I went back to FM3 also. Note: I like all car series, so this is not a 'FM3 is better than GT5' deal because I'm an Xbox guy. FM3 is just significantly better than the demo that was released today. It feels like a rush job by Polyphony in an attempt to steal some of Turn 10's thunder.
Forza 3 has a permanent steering assist algorithm. It's a part of the game and cannot be disabled. I'm surprised you two aren't liking the new physics. Yes, it's a lot different than Prologue. But it's improved across the board. There are many new things being modeled. Notice the tires lose some traction on the paint. The oversteer/understeer and feeling on the limits of traction are dramatically better than Prologue. In cockpit mode, the car shudders and the front dives on hard braking. I really like the way the time trial plays, although the graphics were a mixed bag. The cars and interiors look incredible. The scenery around that track is bland. I remember the Prologue tracks like London and Eiger Norwand looking better. Tokyo Route 246 looked amazing at all the shows. I hope the proper GT5 demo includes a taste of the rally car mode, preferably a night race.
I don't know. Maybe I need to try it with a proper wheel and not a controller. What with the gas and brake defaulted to the x button and square button.
If you're using the controller, I'd suggest mapping the gas and brakes to the L2/R2 triggers. It gives you finer control. Gran Turismo 5 Demo Hands-on http://ps3.ign.com/articles/105/1056254p1.html
