Isn't it traditional to delay a Grand Turismo game for years before release?
Saw this online and it made me lol: "Rumor has it GT5's delay is just due to the addition of motorcycles, intercontinental jetliners, submarines, cargo ships, bicycles, quads, snowboards, helicopters and a cross continent railroad. They are also having trouble accurately modeling the Magic Carpet as Alad...din is reluctant to grant them access to the only existing one in the universe..." At this rate, it'll become decades not years.
I saw this post on GTPlanet forums from Amazon France's automated mail system. It just made my day although we have to wait another month but at this point I'm not expecting anything until next year.

From what is being leaked this thing is going to be incredible. The video of the Zonda in the rain looks so good. I'm going to go out on a limb and say either 11/23 or 11/30, those seem to be the most plausible at this point and it seems like thats what the retailers say even if Sony denies it.

oh this is just wonderful. Last night my PS3 died. I got the red flashing light means which means the motherboard is done. I'm going to have to send it back to Sony, have them fix it (which costs $150). Which is fine, but the turn around time with Sony is about a month. So the game that I've been waiting for for years is presumably about to come out and my PS3 dies. What great timing. oh well, I've had the PS3 for 4 years now and have put many an hour on it so it was due.

Good news, but I'll believe it when I see it. I pre-ordered it more than a year ago from Amazon, they're still showing estimated delivery date of Jan 5, 2011, but looks like recent news so maybe Amazon hasn't updated the date yet. It's been a long wait -- we bought a PS3 when they came out in 2006 -- really the only reason for the PS3 purchase was for GT. Then it was a year or two before GT5 Prologue finally came out, now finally 4 years later GT5 is here. This game better be unbelievable.
I'm cautiously optimistic. I still haven't bought my PS3. I told myself I would finally buy one when we got within 2 weeks of an official release date. I almost bought one a month ago...then they pushed it back. I don't know if I will be able to take it if they back out of the 11/24/2010 date. From what I've seen, it will be worth it. WRC, Karting, Nascar...there's something for everybody in this game.
You should have selected "release date shipping" -- it only costs $0.99 and you would be getting on the 24th. I'm having mine shipped to my parents' house in Arizona as I'm driving in that day.
Great -- I just updated my year-old pre-order and estimated delivery date changed from Jan 5th to Nov 24th. I like GT as well, but my son is the one that is dying for it. He is expecting January now after a multi-year series of delays, so it will be great to surprise him with it. Thanks for the info.
I don't se any way it could be delayed again at this point. Review copies are out and leaked copies as well, theres just no way to delay it again.
My Amazon pre-order was saying Jan 5th also, but after seeing Steve's message I updated it for release date delivery and it changed it to Nov 24th. You can do this by going into your Amazon account, click on Open Orders, then can click "Available Actions" for the GT5 order and change shipping speed to day of release (there is a 99 cent charge for changing it to release date).
i have an old logitec g25 wheel, the one with 3 pedals and shifter that i used to use on ps2 with gt4. does anyone know if it will still work with ps3/gt5? thanks
