Undid the car from it's roofliner. Not difficult, just take it slow. 1. Remove roofhandles and sunvisors, as they also hold the liner in place. 2. Disconnect the front rooflight. 3. In the rear C-pillars: remove the small screw 4. Pop out the rear rooflight and disconnect 5. Behind the rear rooflight there's a small screw holding the rear of the liner in place. 6. Pull the roofliner forward: it slides in the middle out of three clips. 7. take out roofliner. The hose between your accumulator and fuelpump is not the original one and I'm a bit surprised to see this kind of rubber flex tube. It must be able to cope with 3 bar of pressure and it looks like it was just shoved over the heads without clamps. I'll post a pic of my solution.
Stefan, please do. Sunroof is out. A question: are there 2 springs? Mine has one. best Jurgen Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wanted to reassemble the springs and shocks this evening and found 4 drops of oil under one of the shocks. The shaft is oily and I can compress it slowly by hand. Best Jurgen
so, they're leaking. There is a company in Belgium that rebuilds KONI absorbers, but they're rather expensive. I also know of an Italian company that rebuilds these for about 175 euro per unit.
The other shock was still ok, so after 10 min, the result. I'll blaim it on fatigue it didn't work yesterday evening. And for those who missed out: the gliders for the sunroof Stefan (Stekkefun4)had made are a perfect replacement part, eventhough mine were still in very good condition. Here are the pics of the pump and accumulator of the 'golden' mondial. As you can see, I have had a new line made between these by a specialised company as they are no longer available from Ferrari or Bosch. Concerning the absorbers: here's the link in Italy: Homepage - A2 Autoammortizzatori Their work is amazing. I don't have the contact details of the belgian guy, made 10 phone calls to get hold of him, but he is not very communicative and I had to wait for weeeeeeks before he replied. Nice job! I'll try to contact the Italians for a reburbishment of the shock. This afternoon I spend some time on the roofhandles and I got all three back to tiptop shape. Also did all the leather parts I had at home and tested the speakers, they still seem to work, so off they go into storage. Nice work Jurgen!! I'm always up for originality, but for shock I actually would not rebuild them. Todays shock are so much better and handling a car more safe. Getting new racing shocks has a similar price tag as rebuilding. There is a Dutch company who makes shocks for Ferraris and all kind of sport cars for a good price and adjustable in height. Let me know if you want their details and I'll look it up.
Today was for the glassfiber roof shell. Removed the light trim, fabric and the remnants of the insulation. And you can call it remains: ashes to ashes, dust to dust.....well I guess I have found about 2 corpes hidden behind the headliner. Then, after 2 hours, I had a naked shell. No more glue residue, clean as a whistle. Now my search for a replacement insulation fabric can start. Need 1.30x1.30 m Best Jurgen
one good advice: don't wash the headliner above 40° C. It shrinks... You'll have a hard time putting it back on the board ... Give the fabric some time to stretch again so it will fit in the same corners.
Hi all, This morning, after taking pictures of the center console I finally did my first happy discovery: my first official sign of an original colour On the inside of the console I found a marking saying AL 155 USA T.B. 3015 the 3015 stands for the Blue colour. At this point I will no longer pull anything out of the interiour. The rest of the carpets and leather (dash) will be cleaned in situ. When the fabric for insulation of the roof and floor arrive I will start assembling again. First I'll have a look at the entire center console. Another 'while I'm there' proposition anyone? Today I comtinued with the center console. While the paint was drying I cleaned up the heat shield from inside the engine bay. Best Jurgen Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi guys, today I received a larger package: the fabric for insulation and padding of the roofliner and the fabric for under the carpets. Installation went rather smooth and forming it was fun. I'll let it dry overnight and tomorrow I'll trim it and install the roofliner. Best Jurgen
ok, imagine it's tomorrow. Found some spare time this evening. If any of my Belgian Mondial friends is interested, I've got enough fabric left for another roof. Just give me a shout, you can have it. It's 7mm thick, fire retardent roof insulator. Good quality, but a b*tch to cut with scissors. Best Jurgen Image Unavailable, Please Login
I got myself some of these titanium exhaust wraps. Does anybody have any experience with these? Best Jurgen Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't know about these, but I know the fabric exhaust wraps caught also moisture and made your piping rot away in no time. This may be different.
I've used exhaust wrap on racing cars. Mainly to keep the paint from bubbling on composite body parts, from the heat generated. It is also supposed to increase horsepower.
The more the reason to drive the car a lot when she's ready . I'm also planning to build an undertray under the engine - Bell Bloke style - to keep most of the water from down under away. Best Jurgen
