    Hi guys,

I'm looking at a car in Aberdeen, wondering if anyone knows of a decent Ferrari specialist around there that can do a PPI for me? All suggestions are welcomed.

    Thanks

Not sure if there's anyone that far north - for franchise its Graypaul in Edinburgh or non-franchise Top Gear not that far away in Bathgate

About 140 miles from Aberdeen though.

Incidently I sold my 328 to a guy in Rockhampton so if you need any info about export feel free to pm me.

    Lewis.

Doesn't his premise have fairly aggressive speedbumps?

Seems like the closest place is Graypaul, still more than 100 miles away - dropped them an email asking for a PPI quote, have a feeling they'll quote arm and leg because of the distance!

What year Ferrari is it for?
Some specialists of the older models will travel to view a car for you. Expensive but may still be cheaper than using Graypaul!

Graypaul quoted 500 pounds for a Ferrari recommended 190 point check. Does anyone know what this 190 check includes?

Have you checked out the tax situation for importing such a new Ferrari? Seem to remember the guy who bought my 328 saying that importing anything younger than 20 years old wouldnt add up by the time taxes were added.

Not sure about the 190 point check but wouldnt imagine it being a proper PPI.

yes, unfortunately will have to fork out about 10K GBP in taxes, but it's still cheaper to bring one in than buy one here.

    Hi Serge

As an alternative, give Stewart Roden of Scuderia Ecosse in Edinburgh a call +44 (0) 1506 890724 he is a well respected Scottish Ferrari expert who also ran Ferrari Racing Teams so he knows his stuff.

By means of an intro simply advise him that Peter with the 16M recommended you to him.

    Good luck..

Funnily enough, I've actually used those guys for fixing chronic brake and suspension problems on my MINI when I couldn't get any other local specialists to successfully sort it and the MINI dealer wouldn't touch aftermarket parts. :)

While I was there, they were servicing a Koenigsegg CCX, which was the first I'd seen in person. I think they said they had the service contract for a fleet of rental super cars, so they get to see quite a variety of exotics. I also talked with them at length about 348s and 355s while I was picking my car up and they seemed genuinely interested. For some reason, they liked the 355 more than the 348, but many fine men have also suffered from this particular affliction so it was quite forgivable. Hehehe :D Martin was particularly interested in discussing Ferrari, so I think he'd been your man from their business if you approached them for a PPI on a Ferrari.

Happily, they did a full valet of my car while it was in there - I was pleasantly surprised as it was included in the initial workshop quote and I wasn't expecting it. In terms of a commuter hot-hatch, they were a little expensive and a fair distance from me (the only reasons I haven't been back), but they fixed an ongoing problem on my car that several other mechanics had failed to rectify. Although I was referred to them, I was a little surprised they agreed to take a look at my car (a bit below their usual level, I thought), but they seemed to be car enthusiasts across all marques and both Martin and Phil had kind things to say about it. Overall, a great experience.

I haven't ever had an exotic to take anywhere but, if I did, I wouldn't have any concerns about giving them a try on the servicing or repairs. Hope that helps. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.
