Gold Speciale Wheels on 458 Italia?

    I feel a bit silly posting this thread, because when I see similar ones, I think "how are we supposed to help? It's up to the guy himself to decide!", but I've been back and forth on this so many times, unable to make a decision, I really would appreciate some "what I would do" opinions.

    Anyway, I have a Rosso Fuoco 458 Italia, with the optional forged wheels. painted in the dark grey/titanium colour Ferrari offer as an option. I am considering "upgrading" to Speciale wheels, painted in "matt gold" (see attached picture for an example wheel, but not on a car unfortunately). I know Ferrari have a long history of using gold wheels, especially on race cars, and I think it would look good against the Fuoco paint, but I can't be sure enough to pull the (expensive!) trigger.

    What do you think? Also, if there are any Photoshop experts who could edit the picture of my car below to show it wearing gold wheels, I'd really appreciate it.

    The closest picture I've found of gold wheels on a Fuoco car (with yellow callipers as well, which was another factor I couldn't decide on - I don't want to change the colour of these), is this one from the Pista thread. I think it's from a configurator, and might not be Fuoco, but it looks close to me. I like how it looks, but obviously the wheel design itself is different.

    Personally, I think you car looks absolutely PERFECT as it. It's gorgeous! I wouldn't do gold. Not that it looks bad, I just don't personally like it, and it's obviously a very personal thing. If you really like the wheels, then go for it!

    Your car is already beautiful, but if you like gold, you like gold. I actually considered doing the same thing for my TdF 458, but I don’t really like the particular gold that Ferrari uses on the Speciale wheels. If you want them, you can probably find a good used set for far less than a new set.

    Firstly congratulations on owning a Rosso Fuoco Ferrari... this is truly an amazing color and one of the best I have ever seen.

    The gold wheels I have seen on a 458 Speciale in Fuoco and I was blown away. It just changes the whole presence of the car.

    Thanks for the feedback guys, for what it's worth I'm leaning back towards not doing it now ... or if I do, I'll probably just get the current wheels re-finished in gold. Much cheaper, and easy to change back (also, the Speciale wheels are a different size, so it would involve suspension setup changes as well).

    Your car looks great as is! Wheels are a very personal choice so you will get many different opinions. I found a red 488 with gold wheels if that helps...

    Unless you are head over heels about going gold, I think you should leave well enough alone. It’s going to cost money, plus it won’t match the original build sheet. Again, just my opinion. You need to do what’s good for you. Your car should excite you!

    Not a fan of gold wheels personally. It just looks out of place with everything else on the vehicle.
