I'm heading to Montreal next weekend. Never been there. Anything I need to check out? Any night life suggestions? Restaurants? Etc.

Commun things to visit as a tourist, Ramsey museum to learn Montreal history, St-Joseph oratory , a belvedere on Mont-Royal at night or the Olympic stadium tower. John Scotti if you want to see cars.
Be anywhere at any time if you want to see full traffic jam.

Da Emma is one of the best restaurants I've been to. Emma is Italian and her parents and grandparents owned a restaurant in Italy. It's really good food on Rue De La Commune in old Montreal. You'll definitely have to make a reservation. Prices are very reasonable also.

Montreal is a blast but the roads can be busy and one ways confusing

    Gilles villenueve racr track
    Notra dame basilica
    Mont royal
Old montreal is a neat european style getaway
Schwartz for smoked meat (local classic)
Poutine is a local item which if you like fries/cheese/gravy i would suggest trying.
Lots of high end restaurants peel street area if you feel like fine dining.
Rogers cup tennis for the ladies is in montreal this weekend.

Sorry for the horrible ramble on my phone at the airport!

Thanks everyone. I flying up so I won't be driving around on my own, just taxis or Uber (if available). I'm looking forward to it. I've heard it has a very European feel. Is that accurate?

Yes in general, but especially so in the Old Montreal district.

(I've been to Montreal 3 times for the Formula 1 weekend, and on 2 other occasions)

Quebec city will still be quiet a trip to see. They are a fair amount apart. Depending on your time it can be done but plenty to see in montreal

Montreal is a city with lots of culture, hence the European flavor. Old montreal is a must, very romantic and many beautiful restaurants and boutique hotels. Very pretty. Just walk down St.Catherine st, you will feel and see the diverse cultures. Fun to see the Chinatown, Little italy areas etc. Have fun!

Quebec is much more french european style. I personally way prefer the old Quebec than the old Montreal. Walking the old Quebec is easy(except the hills) and nice. Surounded by the fortress wall and it's doors the old Quebec is unique. The view of the St-Lawrence river from the Chateau Frontenac terrace is no comparision at all. The Montmorency falls are only minutes away and in front of the Orlean island bridge. If you want the FEEL of a old european town go to Quebec.

Quebec city is a large village, Montreal is .......... Montreal. A big city.

Hotel Saint Paul is popular for a boutique hotel. Hotel St. Germine is another. If you want the newer swanky place, try Hotel Crystal. Lots to enjoy there.

If you enjoy more boutique may I suggest "Le Saint Sulpice" we have going there for almost 10 years, and it's our go to spot in old Montreal.

Home - Le Saint Sulpice Le Saint Sulpice

As for dinner, our favorite spot is the "angry beef " stones throw away , and a hot spot for Friday/Saturday nights after dinner. Great crowd, and the food is delious in my book. They have a "beef tartar" that we order every single time. Look at there website for events that have live music as well during the week, like blues night.

Over formula one weekend a few years back we caught Hamilton Lewis and his ***** cat doll g/f having an early dinner. Have fun on your trip.

You'd actually be a little closer to Ottawa, if you wanted to cram in another destination. still a 2 hr drive though.
