This was just a body kit put on a owners Ghibli ?? The Ghibli II Campana (maserati-alfieri.co.uk) " The Ghibli II 'Campana' While visiting Giuseppe Candini's workshop in Modena, I popped down the road to look in at the Campana Carrozzeria workshop - there's always something interesting to look at! While wandering around I noticed an unusual and beautiful looking Ghibli II. It was very nice indeed! I asked permission to take some photos of the car and while doing so was informed that this particular car was a Ghibli Cup fitted with a Campana designed and manufactured body kit. Campana Carrozzeria are well known in Maserati circles for carrying out specialist repairs and full restorations on all road and race Maseratis. The bad news for Ghibli owners is that this car is a 'one-off' specially homologated for the Italian market. The good news is that following ever increasing interest, Campana now offer a range of body panels based on this car. The only panel not offered is the front radiator panel shown in my photos below. However, Campana do offer headlamp cowlings similar to those on the Shamal. The body panels are made of glass fibre and are supplied ready prepared for priming and painting."
Having dealt with fiberglass panels on my GOC I can say I'm not a fan. Certainly not on a street car.
The Ghibli II looks perfect as it is in its original form. This is just a mismatch to a design tht is perfect before they put the kit on!
Here's another "variant" based upon the Shamal. The guy who owned it at the time I knew of also had a blue Shamal I think. The Shamal looks really sharp in metallic blue. So many were red or black. I prefer the Gandidi version. The inside of this reminds me of the 228. https://bringatrailer.com/2017/09/10/spydershamal-tt-v8-prototype-one-off-1994-maserati-opac/
It is a funny car. Made to try to make an attempt of building a more sporty Biturbo Spyder. The configuration of putting the excellent V8 twin turbo engine in it is great. The styling is questionable. The interior is great.
BTW the owner of that car is a member of Biturbozentrum. I guess he sold it? It was up for sale for a very long time.
