    Take a look: www.getitfree.net

A friend Emails me saying: "hey, go here and we both get a free Apple Color iPod. Pleeease!".

Now, firstly, if this site does send items at all, the only way it could be viable is for them to sell your information for more than the items are worth to advertising companies.

They also want you to give them your Email address books....

Shouldn't sites like this be shut down, under Anti-Spam legislation?

BTW, should I give them my address and contact details so I can claim my 'free' Ipod? :D

When I saw the page you fill in your address details to claim your carrot, I decided to check the contact details of the company to see who I could sue if they failed to deliver.

    Surprise surprise, I see this:

I set up a yahoo.com e-mail address to see how much crap I get from one of these websites. That was about 6 months ago. I get about 200 e-mails a day now on that address.

I run to the mail box everyday hoping and prayer it will arrive, but nothing...YET! At this point, I don't even remember what my prize was supposed to be. I have lots of e-mails to read through if I get bored!

Is this one of those deals where you only get it if your friends sign up so many people or sign up for a service? I've seen some like that. It is hard to go around telling all your friends that they have to do something so you get something for free.

There was one a while back where I could get a free $200 gift card if I signed up for blockbuster online, as long as I cancelled within the 30 trial period my credit card would not be charged so I did it. The catch was 5 or so friends had to do the same, I couldn't get anyone else to do it even though they could cancel it. I didn't mind doing it because blockbuster online was something I would actually use if I forgot to cancel.

There was a legit free ipod thing a while back. You just have to get 5 friends to also sign up for the service which is next to impossible even though they can cancel right afterwards.

Well supposedly, both she and I get Ipods if I sign up.

My poor original Yahoo account (that I created in 1997) already gets about 150 spam messages a day... I really don't want another 200. I especially don't want to give this company my address and phone number.

I managed to keep the account pretty spam free the first 6 - 7 years. It's just the past few years things have gotten out of control.
