    Hi

Regardless of which side of the fence you are on, non of us like to miss an opportunity. And non of us like to pay more than we have to.

We don't know if or what tariffs are going to be put onto car parts being shipped into the States, we don't actually know weather tyres will be included in the car parts tariff?

However what we do know is that we would feel like a nincompoop if we decided we wanted to buy some tyres after a hefty tariff had been applied.

Can i suggest if you might be thinking of buying some tyres for a classic Ferrari within the next few months, you get on with it now before you miss the boat.

I have got loads of stock, but it might be a tyre i need to get in for you, so sooner rather than later would make it a safer bet.

Is that set in stone? i though that was the case with cars, but the situation with car parts was still in debate

I do not know but I don't see why car parts would escape Mr Trump's tariffs and he seems to be standing firm at this point.

I believe the UK is getting a blanket 10%... cars are a special case, however and at 25%. Not sure about "car parts" but I would guess they will fall under the 10% rate.

I don't think car parts will avoid his tariffs. However, he might not be so harsh as 25%, he might also hold back a bit in enforcing them, because it seems it might cripple the home built car market. It's the NIMBYism of building some car parts that causes the problem. When you are trying to be a green country, you simply have the ozone angry parts made in a different country. Shatting! we are green! So i wonder if their might be a bit of a gentle move toward the car part thing after the US car builders are a bit more prepared for it. The intention is to help them not hinder them.

I am sincerly hoping we get away with the 10% thingy. that will give us a bit of a leg up over other countries.

However rest-assured we value our US freinds and will aim to still provide a good service. currently we are shipping i guess relatively small consignments of tyres out to you guys more often than not it doesnt even get stopped. People predominently aren't paying any duty. So if you are thinking about doing something in the near future, we know the current situation is good, but the future is for now unsure. so grab them while its good.

Thinking about it, perhaps car parts/tyres for cars over 25 years old will be exempt from the tariff, in line with the cars themselves? Needs to be checked out.

Correct. HTS codes 4011xxx / 4012xxx are all affected, which is basically tires for autos, tractors, and trucks. New, or used.

'stopped' isn't the operative process. As you know, proper and legal exports to the USA will list a proper and legal HTS code on the Commercial Invoice. When goods enter the United States, that HTS code triggers the duty payable. The goods don't need to 'stop' or be 'held' (or even inspected). The invoice for the duty is passed back via the carrier and onward to the end-payer (customer, or seller of the goods).

These new tariffs won't necessarily slow down the processing of imports; they are merely a change of the duty rate for an already extremely efficient and organized network.

    Hi

Well i dont have a great understanding of how the duty etc is dealt wiht in our shipments. What i do know is that it does work incredibly effeiciently. It takes about the same time to get a tyre to your doorstep anywhere in the USA on the other side of the pond, as it does to neighbouring Europe.

I humbly suggest that given our current global economic and political environment, you'll have a (forced) deeper understanding of it real soon !

90 day reprieve. Possibly longer? Are Serbian products also taxed?

Nobody knows, until it happens. I think that is the best anyone can do, unless you are friends with higher ups.

Me, only the ones down low, as it goes: " I have low friends in high places, but I prefer high friends in low places" :)
