My '13 California with 3.5k miles got the gearbox light on the dash earlier. I think I downshifted while to high a speed it stayed on for the remainder of my trip which was 3 miles and about 5 mins. I then left the car in the garage for another 10-15 mins. got back in the light was off and everything is shifting normally. It was also shifting normally when the light was on. Any advice or should I be concerned?

I think you are referring to this light which can light up on the extreme left in the warning lights panel which is above the TFT display.
There are at least 2 references to this warning light in your owner's manual. Here is one of them.
"If the warning light A continues flashing without going off, switch off the system and wait for the gear display to go off before restarting. If the failure persists, contact the Ferrari Service Network."
    The manual also says...
"If the warning light A is faulty, a warning light will appear on the TFT display (see page 143) and this condition will be indicated by an acoustic alarm when the ignition key is turned to position II."

So in your case, I would just heed the owner's manual, especially if your car is still under warranty. Don't ignore the factory's specifications. As the manual says, since your warning light has not come back on again, you don't have to call the dealer.

I suspect the system simply detected an over-rev event and put the warning light on to get your attention to be more careful. The rev limits of engines general incorporate some built-in safety margin.
