Sold on BaT yesterday 10/24/2023 for $306k. Modena over Nero with Daytonas with factory custom piping. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2006-ferrari-f430-spider-51/ Basically the exact spec I'm after, except I'd rather have the '08/'09 with CCBs and yellow calipers. For that coin, I'd either buy a 16M Scud and convert it, or just buy an auto F1 for $150k and convert it. I really wanted to hold out for factory manual but that's getting stupid.
Factory gated are crazy now, this was my dealers car, he sold a Mirabau blue /beige 430 gated for 320k last month. I just got my f1, going to enjoy it for a bit and then may gate it
Ironic that one of the best cars ever to drive, that was the cheaper option at the time, have become undriven, highly priced collectors items in so many cases. Thank goodness for conversions!
I seriously don't get why anyone would pay so much more for a manual car, to me there is literally nothing better on a manual car, the shifts are slower, cant keep your hands on the wheel for more control during hard tracking/driving. Ofcorse this is a personal view and I know loads do not agree with me on this. And if they were similarly priced i would be open to a manual if the spec was more what id want, but for these prices, I really don't get it, these are Scuderia + prices... Giallo is still the best color in my opinion for a F430 (spider)
I drove my factory manual Spider all over Europe without a care in the world for miles. Many very happy memories. They are a great drivers car.
I agree on the color choice. Love Giallo Modena on this car. I'm also open to Grigio Silverstone over Red. But really want to stick with the Modena over Nero if I can. I think more people would pick the Auto if it was a DCT. The single clutch manuals are clunky and unreliable. R-Tronic, E-Gear, F1; whatever brand and name you put in it, it's a manual transmission in an auto shell. It's the reason I went for my factory manual R8. Most of my cars are manual, save my 3RS, but it's a PDK dual clutch and has magnetic paddle shifter upgrade! When I do find the right car to pull the trigger on, I'll do the DrS kit. I'd just prefer to find a factory shift plate at minimum to go with it. It's silly to pay Scud prices for an F430. Manual or no.
People value rarity. I feel that more often than not, that translates into the least desirable options when the vehicle was new. Take note you future collectors! Order your new Ferraris in a brown/pink hue with lime green interiors and wait for that money train to pull in after about 20 years
That is absolutely wild - why on earth did it make such big money??? For reference: The most expensive manual F430 in the UK is up for £124,900 ($151,525) - '07 car, 19.5k miles, coupe Second most expensive is £99,995 ($121,255) - '06 car, 22k miles, spider Obviously UK/US isn't a direct comparison but TWICE the price??????
Different markets: you have to consider that we've always valued a manual gearbox in a drivers car. It's normal. Manual's in the states are a relatively new thing (they existed, but were outliers in the general stats), and so there's still a bit of novelty/rarity value to them. Also, much larger population and hence more collectors.
Good points well made, I guess it's similar to the Murcielago manuals - the prices in the US are absolutely INSANE, they don't seem nearly as high over here when they do come up
This exactly, its insane how much more expensive these cars are states side.... maybe buy them all now slowly that one can, so they cna be exported by the time they are 25 years old, just like is happening for years already with R33/R34 GTR's, supras etc There was recently a Murcie Manual for sale in Germany for just over 250,000 euro, an absolute steal compared to USA prices...
