Had the rollover valves recently replaced and my cel is gone. The last couple of times when refueling the gas pump keeps cutting off like the tank is full. Any ideas?

You are filling too fast. Control flow to as little as possible.

Try just putting the nozzle half way in. Some pumps seem faster than others too.

Mine does the same thing too.
I believe it is the design of the fill neck and the flow from the pump > flow into the tank and the subsequent buildup causes a back pressure that trips the pump.
3 weeks ago in Quebec I filled up at a gas pump and the discharge flow was worse than me after 5 beers.
It stopped pumping when the tank was actually full.

So as John Ratto suggested try and control the flow in.

A side note: Don't overfill your tank. It will cause a CEL due to the excess gas overflowing into the vent / canister system and will take a long time to clear.

This is most likely or the charcoal canister is plugged (same thing really). When everything is working properly they don't click off like that.

When I go to California I have a hard time getting fuel into my car. No issue any where else, just Cali. Something with those crazy nozzles they use there.

I live in CA so I understand. The gas stations vapor recovery system is tighter than most but the car will fill easily IF the vent system is working correctly. I had my car in CA for almost 13 years so I have first hand knowledge.

I have this same exact problem/behavior with my 911 and now with my 360.

What I learned from my Porsche days is to place the filler upside down. Worked like a charm for my 911 and now with my 360.

That can help because it helps the fuel flow down the sides in a way that lets the system vent smoothly.

I had the same annoying problem and replaced the charcoal canister. It took nearly 10 minutes for me to fill up cause the filler kept stopping. I believe in the workshop manual it states that the charcoal canister is to be replaced around 30K miles (you need to very that). After replacing it with a new canister, I haven't had that issue. Where I live some pump flow really fast and I can't use those on the high setting, but in the middle setting it fills up like my DD. So now I'm in, out, done!

I've had F-Cars in Cali for a long time and find I need to find the "sweet spot" between nozzle depth and gas velocity. It sometimes takes a while, but when I find it, I don't move until it clicks off for real. I've never been able to clean my windscreen AND pump gas at the same time.

I had this same problem on my 360 and the only way to prevent it is to fill up the tank on the first click setting of the gas refill hose.

I dont have this issue on my F430.

I pulled my roll over valve and blew through it it seem to sticking maybe that is why it is hard to fill up with gas . It is a one way valve design if you flip the the car gas want spill out and cause a fire . I went to HomeDepot and bought a fitting and deleted it want know if that solves the problem until I go fill up

Guys. My new to me 2001 gated 360 spider was doing the same thing. When trying to gas-up, the pump would click off every couple seconds and would burp gas back on me! Even holding the handle LESS than the first detent would still click off. Took 15 minutes just to get 10 gallons in. I tried holding the filler upside down. No luck. Separately (maybe related) it kept failing inspection with 4 sensors showing not ready. I drove 300 miles trying to clear them.

I read the Aldus Voice article on the EVAP canister and ordered one (along with Challenge rear grill, spark plugs and coil packs). I installed all of this stuff this week (need to have the rear panel off to get to the canister and the plugs coils are way easier to get to with rear panel off, because you can lean into the engine bay better w/out it). I also did the Aldus Voice ECU reset (best as I could---hard to hold those RPMS in Austin traffic :)

My old canister was not pouring out the carbon particles like some failed ones, but was very hard to blow through the ports (compared to the new one).

Long story short---- I filled the car yesterday and it was perfect and fast! AND it passed smog inspection this morning !!!

My car has 43,000 miles. BTW the canister in person is HUGE. Not a bad job overall. Maybe a 4 or 5 out of 10?? (mostly removing the rear panel).

Hope this helps some of you. That gas pump thing was a pain!!

Most probably don't know this but that charcoal canister has a maintenance line item in the service manual. It's supposed to be replaced at the 50K km and the 110K km mark.

Kind of like the AC dryer (every other year) or the airbags (every 10yrs), most owners don't know about it
