Seems pretty low even for a salvage title F40.
People are only willing to pay what they think it's worth. Look at the 360 stradale that went for I think just over 100k. Ferraris are worth big money to ferrari fans and collectors. Others..not so much.
I thoroughly agree...but at 585k, that leaves you with a couple hundred thousand to return it to it's former glory. It would still be a pretty nice discount off of what F40's are exchanging hands for recently.
I remember watching those episodes. I like the show. I'm a big fan of OEM... So I doubted they had a buyer back then for 900k. It ended up being Dennis buying it. Looks like at a loss... Robb
That 360CS was in an accident involving the rear end according to the car fax. That's why it went so low.
Mistake imo. Europe is about to devalue Euro and 1989 F40s are legal to import to the U.S. now (25 year DOT exemption).
This F40 has lots of misconceptions about it and what has been done. I can speak about generalities. I am one of VERY FEW that can say this, and even have this confirmed, but I was right next to the car just before the "incident" and also looking at the car just after. I think the sale price of this car was "low" for a car like this, but also know what had to be done to make it right. I think the tv documentation has hurt this car, as well as how it was presented. Knowing what they started with, it can all be redone, but I really question how and what was redone. There is far more to this car than was ever presented. Both good and bad. I normally say, "Everybody loves a story", but in this case, I am guessing bids didn't agree... Shawn
Mileage was in KM, also notice the rear fog lights in the bumper that obviously US cars didn't come with 1989 FERRARI F40 - Barrett-Jackson Auction Company - World's Greatest Collector Car Auctions
If I had the money, I'd buy this car in a heartbeat...I'm definitely more of a purist, but considering it had an accident, a little mods aren't a deal breaker. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford one if I pooped gold, so that's out. Do want to hear more about the "good and bad" of the car though!
